Clear Channel field-testing new mobile interactivity.
The company’s six stations in Syracuse, NY become guinea pigs for a new Wireless Grids Corporation technology that enables a social community of people to interact with radio content on their mobile devices.
Market manager Joel Delmonico says Clear Channel is one of the first firms in the country to use the new applications. “We're always interested in exploring new methods of interaction and content distribution for the benefit of our listeners,” he says.
Austin-based WGC was spun out of Syracuse University and its labs. A subsidiary of Varsity Media Group, the company is developing a software-based platform that enables computer networks and wireless infrastructures to interact with minimal configuration. It’s part of the Intel Certified Partner Program and the Nokia Academic Research Support Partner Program and is an Academic Research Partner with Syracuse University and with the National Science Foundation.
WGC CEO John Andrews says the company looks forward to collaborating with the broadcaster on a larger scale in the future.
