Yankees flagship signs Spanish deal.

CBS Radio’s all-news WCBS, New York (880) has struck an agreement with Univision’s WADO (1280) for the Spanish news/talker to carry the Spanish-language play-by-play for Yankees baseball.  The multi-year deal gives WADO rights to all 162 regular season games as well as any post-season games.  Beto Villa and Francisco Rivera continue as announcers.

Univision regional Mexican “La Qué Buena” WQBU (92.7) had previously carried the Yankees.  The Spanish-language broadcasts are produced by CBS, which also keeps some of the advertising inventory.   WADO will also provide the Spanish language Secondary Audio Program (SAP) feed for Yankees broadcasts on cable TV’s YES Network.

WCBS was the third-highest billing station last year with $43.6 million in revenue according to BIA/Kelsey, in a large part due to Yankees ad sales.  The World Series champs’ season begins Sunday, April 4 in Boston.
