Shawneen Thompson

Radio One hires Shawneen Thompson as its new St. Louis station manager. She most recently was a sales manager for CBS Radio’s urban "V-103" WVEE and talk WAOK (1380) in Atlanta.


Mark Kunkel

Journal Broadcast Group hires Mark Kunkel as director of sales for the company’s three radio stations and two television stations in Tucson, AZ. Kunkel heads to the market from Denver, where for the past five years he was the senior vice president/director of sales for JW Broadcasting.


Garry Meier

WGN, Chicago (720) early afternoon host Garry Meier returns to afternoon drive as Steve Cochran shifts to 1-3pm. Following Meier, Jim Laski will be on the air from 7-10pm, when not preempted by Cubs, Blackhawks or Northwestern basketball broadcasts. "Extension 720" with Milt Rosenberg will now air from 10pm-12am, Monday through Thursday. On Friday nights, Nick Digilio will begin his show one hour earlier, hosting from 10pm-2am. Steve King & Johnnie Putman’s show will air from 12-5am.


John Williams

WGN, Chicago (720) late-morning host John Williams will remain in the 9am-1pm timeslot, but he’ll also begin hosting a two hour (1-3pm) show on CBS Radio’s "NewsRadio 830" WCCO, Minneapolis. Williams spent four years at WCCO before joining WGN in 1997. He fills a slot left open since December when WCCO-TV anchorman Don Shelby retired from his radio show. Williams will do his WCCO show from the WGN studios in Chicago.


John Canzano

Sportswriter John Canzano has signed a new contract to continue hosting afternoon drive show, "The Bald Faced Truth" on Alpha Broadcasting’s sports "95.5 The Game" KXTG, Portland. Canzano has been with the station since its May 2008 launch.


Renel Brooks-Moon

Clear Channel’s rhythmic oldies "98.1 Kiss-FM" KISQ, San Francisco welcomes back station veteran Renel Brooks-Moon to host mornings. She left last May after 12-years at the station. Morris Knight moves from mornings to fill the open afternoon drive slot.


Doug Bertelmann

The broadcast business management software provider WideOrbit names Doug Bertelmann as a regional sales director. Before joining WideOrbit, Bertelmann worked for the German broadcast automation developer DAVID Systems, CBSI and Wicks Broadcast Solutions.


Jason Heyward

Big League Broadcasting’s "Sports Radio 790 The Zone" WQXI, Atlanta signs a deal with Atlanta Braves rookie outfielder Jason Heyward as a contributor to the station’s Braves coverage, making regular appearances in morning and afternoon drive.


Duncan Payton

Clear Channel rhythmic AC "105.7 The Groove" WWVA, Atlanta PD Duncan Payton resigns.


Darrell Ankarlo

Bonneville’s news/talk KTAR-FM, Phoenix (92.3) reluctantly announces it will end the "Ankarlo Mornings" show, one year after Darrell Ankarlo suffered a serious brain injury in an accident. The station will air a one-hour tribute to the late-morning show host Friday. No word on who’ll take over the timeslot.


Bob Agnew

CBS Radio’s "NewsRadio 840" KXNT, Las Vegas names Bob Agnew as its new program director. He most recently programmed Clear Channel talk outlets KNEW and "Green 960" KKGN in San Francisco.


Bob & Tom

The syndicated "Bob & Tom Show" signs "92.5 The Zoo" WZUU, Kalamazoo, MI as its newest affiliate.


Jeff and Jer

San Diego morning show veterans Jeff Detrow and Jerry "Jer" Cesak have reportedly teamed with Los Angeles radio executive Roy Laughlin on a new syndicated weekend radio show. It’s been eight months since Clear Channel hot AC "Star 94.1" KMYI, San Diego dropped the morning show.


Jake Gutierrez

With the South Africa World Cup set to begin next month, Union Broadcasting’s "SportsRadio 810" WHB, Kansas City launches a weekly soccer show hosted by station producer Jake Gutierrez who is former goalkeeper at Western Illinois. The "Kansas City Soccer Show" will be co-hosted Josh Whisenhunt.


Pete McMurray

Emmis’s "The Loop" WLUP, Chicago (97.9) moves night host Pete McMurray for mornings, beginning April 19. He’ll be joined by current co-host Jill Egan. Byrd moves to afternoon drive, replacing Eddie Webb, who exits.


Remembering Peter Goldsmith

Buffalo broadcasters are remembering Peter Goldsmith, who helped launch classical WNED-FM (94.5) in 1977 -- in the middle of the famed “Blizzard of ’77.”  He remained with the station 30 years, until retiring as PD in 2007.  Goldsmith died March 30.  He was 60.


Norm McKee
Local Media of America (LMA) appoints Norm McKee as chief financial officer. McKee was previously CFO of Saga Communications and Live Sports Radio, an in-stadium broadcasting business.  LMA and partner Thoma Bravo have announced plans to grow beyond San Diego into a national footprint.


Michele Williams, Jack Murray
Radio One’s Washington, DC cluster will be oversee by regional vice president Chris Wegmann after general manager Michele Williams exits after ten years with the company.   DOS Jack Murray also exits to focus on his new sales business.


Ryan Hatch
Bonneville’s “Sports 620” KTAR, Phoenix PD Ryan Hatch is transferred to the company’s Seattle cluster where he becomes ops manager.


Stephen Wodlinger
NRC Broadcasting promotes Stephen Wodlinger to CEO of its Vail, CO operations.  The Vail Daily reports he’s overseen the stations for the past 12 years as vice president.


Mike Catherwood
Westwood One hires modern rock KROQ, Los Angeles (106.7) “Kevin & Bean Show” co-host Mike Catherwood as the new co-host of “Loveline with Dr. Drew Pinsky.” 


Hammer
Sandusky Radio’s rock KDKB, Phoenix (93.3) afternoon drive host Hammer exits.


Camelback Jack
CBS Radio’s “94.5 Kool FM” KOOL-FM, Phoenix brings back Camelback Jack in nights, replacing the syndicated Tom Kent program.  He’d been cut in December in a budget move.
 

Chuck Cooperstein, Nate Newton

“The Ben and Skin Show” moves to 9 am-noon at “103.3 ESPN” KESN, Dallas. “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” airs from noon-2 pm, followed by the new one-hour “Coop and Nate” show co-hosted by Chuck Cooperstein and Nate Newton. Completing the revamped weekday lineup is Galloway and Company, heard from 3-7 pm.
 

Sam Malone

Talk KSEV, Houston (700) hires Sam Malone for mornings.  Malone previously worked at hot AC “Mix 96.5” KHMX (96.5) and CHR KRBE (104.1).  The Houston Chronicle reports KSEV's current morning host, Edd Hendee, remains on leave from the station in the wake of a recent death in his family. 


Richard Conlon, Bruce Esworthy and Michael O’Neill
BMI realigns its senior management team.  Richard Conlon is promoted to SVP of corporate strategy, communications and new media.  BMI CFO Bruce Esworthy adds new duties as SVP of finance and administration, overseeing human resources and facilities. Also, Michael O’Neill now holds the newly established position of SVP of repertoire and licensing.  The realignment follows the retirement of BMI EVP/COO John Cody, and the announcement that Landmark Digital Services managing director Robert Barone will also retire at the end of 2010. 
 

Cliff Floyd

Lincoln Financial Media’s “790 the Ticket” WAXY, Miami names 17-year Major League Baseball veteran and World Series Champion Cliff Floyd as the station’s lead baseball analyst. 


Jack Clark
Bonneville “101 ESPN” WXOS, St. Louis hires former St. Louis Cardinals slugger Jack Clark as the pre-game baseball analyst on the station’s “St. Louis Baseball Tonight” program alongside Brian Feldman.


Kevin O'Neill, Lisa Barry
A day after celebrating 30 years on Detroit radio, Kevin O’Neill was let by Clear Channel’s AC WNIC, Detroit (100.3) today.  Also exiting is sidekick Lisa Barry.  O’Neill shifted from afternoons to morning drive a year ago. 


Jim Bohannon
Westwood One talk personality Jim Bohannon has been selected for induction into the Hall of Fame of the D.C. Pro chapter of Society of Professional Journalists. The induction ceremony will take pace in Washington on June 15. “The Jim Bohannon Show” airs on over 300 radio stations nationwide Monday through Friday, 10PM – 1AM ET. Bohannon also hosts Westwood One’s early-morning news show “America in the Morning,” which airs on 356 stations.


Dave Grosby

Sports talk personality Dave Grosby exits Clear Channel’s KJR, Seattle (950).  The Seattle Times reports he’ll join Bonneville’s sports rival “710 ESPN” KIRO for afternoon drive co-hosting duties alongside Kevin Calabro beginning in August.


Jeff Katz, Angela Anderson

Clear Channel’s talk “Rush Radio 1200” WXKS, Boston names Jeff Katz as its new morning host.  It transfers WGIR, Manchester, NH PD/news director Angela Anderson to WXKS as morning news anchor.
 


Jacinda Garabito

Clear Channel rhythmic CHR “96.1 The Beat” WIBT, Charlotte morning co-host Jacinda Garabito exits.  Modern rock sister “The End” WEND (106.5) also drops the syndicated “Bob & Tom” show and plans to launch a new morning show in the timeslot reports the Charlotte Observer. 


Pat McKay

Clear Channel Springfield-Worcester, MA ops manager Pat McKay exits the two-market position.
 


Willobee

Shamrock Communications names Willobee as its new ops manager for its three Wilkes Barre-Scanton stations.  Willobee most recently was OM/PD/afternoon host at Northshire Communications’ modern rock WEQX, Manchester, VT-Albany, NY.
 


Joey V.

Entercom’s country “95.7 The Wolf” KBWF, San Francisco hires Joey V. for afternoon drive.  He most recently was an air personality at CBS Radio’s rhythmic AC “Moving 99.7” KMVQ. 
 


Nick Young

CBS News Radio anchor Nick Young after two decades with the news division.  Young has been anchor of the morning drive “CBS World News Roundup” since February 2006.  His previous radio experience included stops at WLW, Cincinnati; WEEI, Boston and the RKO Radio Networks.
