Michelle Burden

Sun Radio Network hires Michelle Burden as Director of Affiliate Relations. Burden, who’s Sun Radio office will be in Chicago, began her radio career as Producer of the Doug Banks Morning Show until moving to the record business nine years ago. She’s served for industry giants such as Warner Brothers, Sony BMG and most recently Universal Island Def Jam. In her role at Sun, Michelle will lead efforts to affiliate a new program offering to be announced in the coming days.


Rod Douglas

Former Las Vegas broadcaster Rod Douglas retires from the radio business after 44-years. He most recently was a part-time news anchor at WCOE-FM, LaPorte, IN. Douglas was inducted into the Nevada Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 1997. He’s also worked in Toledo, Jacksonville, Fresno and Wichita Falls, TX.


Curtis Downey

Toledo broadcasters are remembering URBan Radio Broadcasting GM Curtis Downey, who died April 14. He began with the URBan cluster in 2005 as director of sales. He was promoted to market manager in 2008. Downey spent more than 30 years in radio. A Toledo memorial service is set for Friday, April 23 with separate funeral services in


Gene Countryman

Entercom’s KNSS, Wichita (1330) drops the Saturday show hosted by Gene Countryman after 21-years. GM Jackie Wise tells Kansas.com they offered him a new timeslot, but Gene opted to call it quits.


Mark Willes, Jeff Simpson

Deseret Management Corp. president/CEO Mark Willes becomes president/CEO of the KSL Broadcast Group, which includes news/talk KSL-FM & AM (102.7, 820), classic hits “Arrow 103.5” KRSP and soft AC “FM 100” KSFI as well as KSL-TV and the Deseret Morning News newspaper.  Willes is a former executive with Times Mirror and General Mills.  He replaces Bob Johnson, who becomes president/CEO of Deseret Mutual Benefit Administrators.  Both are owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  The KSL Group also gets a new EVP/COO: Jeff Simpson, who’ll transfer from sister Deseret Book Company.
 


Sid Rosenberg, Michael Irvin 

Beasley’s sports WQAM, Miami (560) is about to shuffles its line-up.  Midday host Sid Rosenberg (10am-2pm) host will move to afternoon drive (3-7pm), succeeding Jim Mandich who left the station earlier this year after being diagnosed with cancer.   The Miami Herald reports former University of Miami and Dallas Cowboys star Michael Irvin will fill Rosenberg’s timeslot.  Irvin will be tamed with co-host Kevin Kiley with plans to syndicate his Dallas-based show nationally.


Jim DeRogatis

“Chicago Public Radio” WBEZ (91.5) nationally syndicated “Sound Opinions” host Jim DeRogatis has quit has job as pop music critic for the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper.  He joins the Columbia College faculty and a blogger for Chicago Public Radio’s Vocalo.org.


Dr. Bruce Hensel

Black Card Radio will syndicate a new weekly, one-hour medical show hosted by Dr. Bruce Hensel.  In addition to the weekend show will be accompanied by “Dr. Hensel's Medical Minutes.”
 


Chuck Doud, Woo Woo

Entercom modern AC “94.9 The Point” WPTE, Virginia Beach returns morning hosts Chuck Doud and Woo Woo, replacing the syndicated Kidd Kraddick show. 
 


Jon-David Wells

Cumulus “Talk Radio 570” KLIF, Dallas afternoon drive host Jon-David Wells joins Salem’s “NewsTalk 660” KSKY for evenings (5-8pm) talk duties, pushing Salem Radio Network’s Hugh Hewitt back to tape-delay. 



Greg Wood, Chris Wilcox

Clear Channel modern rock “The End” WEND, Charlotte (106.5) hires Greg Wood and Chris Wilcox for morning drive duties, succeeding the syndicated “Bob & Tom” show.  The pair has hosted mornings at classic rock “The Fox” KBFX-FM, Anchorage (100.5), which will continue to air a customized version of the show keeping them on the station.  The Charlotte Observer reports Clear Channel spent $20,000 relocating Wood and Wilcox to the Lower 48.  WEND hasn’t had a local morning show since 2001. 


Robert T. Nash

Citadel’s “News Talk 1150” WGOW, Chattanooga afternoon talk host Robert T. Nash exits. 


Jeremy Anticouni

Jeremy Anticouni’s computer help show based at “Hot Talk 560” KSFO, San Francisco will go into national syndication.  The show also airs on CBS Radio’s KNX, Los Angeles.  Envision Radio Networks says the show will be extended to two hours for the rollout.


Roy Isom

Fresno radio is remembering longtime news/talk KMJ (580) newsman Roy Isom, who died April 15.  He was 72.  Isom was most recently KMJ’s farm director.
 


Ralph Snodsmith

WOR, New York “Gardening Hotline” advice show host Ralph Snodsmith died April 10 from complications to a broken hip.  He was 70.   Snodsmith’s gardening show had been on the air more than 35-years.
