Radio One regional vice president Rick Porter and Cleveland market manager Lisa Thal exit the company. Thal had overseen the cluster since 2006.
Jeff Cushman
Clear Channel hires Jeff Cushman as operations manager for its five-station Greensboro, NC cluster. He’ll also program AC WMAG (99.5). Cushman previously worked in the market (1997-2001) and most recently spent nine years at CBS Radio’s cluster in Orlando.
Sal Martirano
Westwood One names Sal Martirano its New York general sales manager handling sales for Metro Traffic in the market. Martirano joins Metro from WRNN-TV, New York where he was GSM/program manager. He previously worked for CBS Radio’s "K-Rock" WXRK.
Jacky Ankeles
Oldies "Northshore 104.9" WBOQ-FM, Cape Cod midday host Jacky Ankeles exits the station after 22-years. Ankeles had survived through the move from a classical format, then jazz and most recently oldies.
Bobby Mitchell
CBS Radio turns to Bobby Mitchell to succeed morning man Dick Purtan, who retired from oldies WOMC (104.3) in March after 45-years on Detroit radio. "The Bobby Mitchell Show with Chuck Gaidica" launches Monday, May 24. Mitchell jocked at Detroit’s former WHYT-FM in the ‘80s, did mornings at KPLX, Dallas and hosted the syndicated "Saturday ‘80s Show." Gaidica has been director of meteorology at WDIV-TV in Detroit since 1987.
Tex Meyer
Curtis Media hires Tex Meyer as general manager for oldies "Y-102" WKIX-FM (102.9) and oldies WKIX (850) in Raleigh. He most recently was Clear Channel’s market manager in Greensboro and Roanoke-Lynchburg. Meyer also worked in Tampa and Pittsburgh.
Joanne Everhart
Entercom hires Joanne Everhart to become the company’s first director of eCommerce. She previously spent 14-years at retailer QVC where she was a senior manager of new media. Most recently she was a senior program manager for the directory company Yellowbook.
Don Gosselin
Clear Channel names Don Gosselin operations manager for its western Massachusetts region, which includes stations in Worcester and Springfield. He’ll also program three stations: hot AC "Mix 93.1" WHYN-FM, country "Kix 97.9" WPKX and adult alternative WRNX. Gosselin succeeds Pat McKay, who exited last month. It’s a return to Clear Channel for Gosselin, who most recently programmed Greater Media hot AC "Now 97.5" WNUW, Philadelphia.
Paul Wilson
A three-year stint at Clear Channel Fresno has come to an end for Paul Wilson, who exits the cluster where he was director of programming. He previously had the same title for Clear Channel in Honolulu.
Patrick Burns
Online video platform provider VMIX names Patrick Burns its new president/CEO, succeeding Mike Glickenhaus, who exits. Burns has worked with a number of Fortune 100 companies in the software, hardware and medical-device industries.
Bobby Byrd
Brewer Broadcasting’s "Pulse News" WPLZ, Chattanooga hires Bobby Byrd to join its morning show team that includes Louis Lee, Denise Galloway and Chris Taylor.
Fred Grandy
Citadel news/talk WMAL, Washington, DC rehires morning show host Fred Grandy just weeks after he and co-host Andy Parks were dismissed. Grandy will be paired with newscaster Bryan Nehman for "The Grandy Group." Grandy is a former congressman and TV actor. Temporary morning host Chris Plante returns to late-mornings.
Jeff Aaron
S-R Broadcasting’s KRKO, Everett, WA (1380) cuts sports talk show host Jeff "The Fish" Aaron in what the Daily Herald newspaper reports is a budget move. The station will now offer mostly a line-up of syndicated sports talk. Aaron previously worked at KJR, Seattle (950).
Chuck Taylor
Proving you can go home again, Pamal AC "B-95.5" WYJB, Albany, NY hires Chuck Taylor for mornings and programming duties, succeeding Ric Mitchell, who exits. Taylor spent many years at WYJB until he was replaced by Mitchell. Taylor will be paired with existing co-host Laura Daniels.
John Flynn
The Federal Communications Commission appoints John Flynn as senior counsel to chairman Julius Genachowski for transactions. Flynn will head the working team that is conducting the review of the proposed Comcast/NBC Universal merger. Flynn was most recently EVP and general counsel of ICO Global Communications.
Deborah Powell
Spanish Broadcasting System promotes Deborah Powell to national sales manager for Mega TV responsible for national spot sales for Mega TV in Miami and other markets. Powell was previously an account executive for Mega TV. She’s been a south Florida radio and television account executive since 1981.
Ryan Kawamoto, James Coles
Clear Channel hires Ryan Kawamoto as PD of CHR "Hot 93.9" KIKI, Honolulu and hot AC "Star 101.9" KUCD. Kawamoto – who goes by the on-air name "DJ Ryan Sean" – most recently served as PD of Frontier Capital Partners’ rhythmic CHR "Da Bomb 102.7" KDDB and CHR "The Zone 93.1" KQMQ for the past four years. The cluster also hires James Coles as imaging/production director for KIKI. He was most recently held the same post at Cox Radio’s Honolulu cluster. The Clear Channel cluster also hires Glenn Molina as an events coordinator.
Chris Peters, Brock Whaley
Clear Channel AC KSSK-FM/KSSK-AM (92.3, 590) shifts Chris Peters to the 10pm to 4am time slot. Peters has been producing the Mike Buck morning show and handling weekends and swing shifts. That shift will now be filled by Brock "B-Rock" Whaley, who most recently served as the director of programming at Visionary Related Entertainment where he programmed Frontier Capital Partners’ classic hits "105-9 The Big Kahuna" KPOI and AC KUMU-FM (94.7).
Ric Harris, Manav Dhanda
WorldBand Media hires Ric Harris as head of national advertising sales. The former SVP of NBC Digital and BET will be based in New York, where the company will soon relocate to. WorldBand also hires Manav Dhanda and head of programming for its "HumDesi Radio" format, which is currently airing in four markets on HD2 stations. Dhanda formerly programmed "Big FM" – India’s largest radio network which has 45 FMs around the country.
Valerie Geller
The Conclave announces the 2010 Rockwell Award has been awarded to consultant and author Valerie Geller. She’ll be given the honor July 16 at the Conclave Awards Luncheon during the 35th annual Minneapolis conference.
Karen Carey
Clear Channel Rochester, NY market manager Karen Carey will leave the cluster next month as she relocates out of the area with her family. Carey has been with the Rochester station group for 14-years, the last seven as market manager. She previously worked for Jacor and Pyramid Broadcasting. No successor has been named.
Richard Rene, Michael Capozzoli
Dial Global hires Richard Rene as general manager of international relations to handle affiliate sales outside the United States for all Dial Global Programming and TM Studios products. Rene previously worked in the international divisions for Premiere Radio Networks and Westwood One. Dial Global also hires Michael Capozzoli as an affiliate sales rep for TM Studios. He recently worked at Premiere.
Dennis Martinez
Clear Channel Atlanta ops manager Scott Lindy hands of PD duties for rhythmic AC "105.7 The Groove" WWVA to Dennis Martinez. He joins from CBS Radio CHR "Movin 99.7" KMVQ, San Francisco where he’s done weekends and swing-shift work. His resume includes PD jobs in San Francisco , Phoenix and Monterey.
Josh Darrow, Lee Feldman
Beasley’s "Sports Radio 560" WQAM, Miami promotes two. Beasley also boosts promotions director and assistant program director Lee Feldman to operations director for WQAM. The station turns to 15-year WQAM veteran Josh Darrow to fill the newly-created position of PD of digital/new media for the Miami cluster’s websites. He remains part of the WQAM broadcast team for Miami Hurricane sports.
Damien Fahey
Clear Channel CHR KIIS-FM, Los Angeles (102.7) announces longtime host of MTV’s "TRL" Damien Fahey will join the station as an on-air personality doing weekend shifts and fill-in work. Prior to MTV, Fahey worked for three years at "Kiss 108" WKXS, Boston . The common denominator of the two FMs: PD John Ivey.
John Tobin
Cumulus rock WPHD, Poughkeepsie, NY (101.5) morning host John Tobin exits, posting a note on a fan page that he’s been without a contract since June 2008 and he’s tired of "corporate game-playing." Mark Cooper remains in morning drive on WPHD.
Bob Eolin
Elmira and Corning , NY broadcasters are remembering radio owner Bob Eolin, who died May 17 after a year long battle with brain cancer. He was 67. Services are scheduled for Thursday, May 20 in Corning , NY . Eolin got into station ownership in 1990 after he decided to "retire" after spending more than 20-years working at and managing TV stations along the New York-Pennsylvania border. Eolin, wife Dee, and business partner Jack Shane bought six stations in New York ’s Southern Tier under the name The Radio Works. There he hosted a morning show with Shane, and later his wife Dee. In December 2003 they sold their group to Route 81 Radio.
Matt Baldassarri
After being downsized from XM Satellite Radio as part of the Sirius-XM merger, Matt "The Cat" Baldassarri launches a Sunday night R&B oldies show, "Juke In The Back" based at KZGM-FM, Cabool , MO (88.1). The show focuses on 1950s rhythm and blues music. It’s distributed via NPR and Pacifica , but Baldassarri says the show can be aired on both commercial stations and public radio.
Keith Samuels
Sporting News Radio parent Mission Media Group has announced that Keith Samuels is joining the company to lead the organization’s sales initiatives. Keith working in sales in Seattle, Tucson and Los Angeles and was a senior consultant for the Center for Sales Strategy.
Mark Wilson
Westwood One promotes Mark Wilson to VP of affiliate sales for its entertainment division. In his new role, Wilson will oversee and manage the affiliate sales efforts for Westwood One’s CHR, Urban and Latin Entertainment programming.
Burnie Thompson
Magic Broadcasting’s WYOO, Panama City, FL (101.1) morning talk show host Burnie Thompson will launch a statewide Florida syndicated show in September.
Andrew Ross Sorkin
New York Times business columnist Andrew Ross Sorkin will launch a new short-form business feature on United Stations Radio Network starting July 12. "The Business Brief" will be a three-time-a-day, one-minute feature with Sorkin’s insights on the day’s business news.
Jon Reilly
Citadel’s "96.9 The Wolf" WIWF, Charleston hires Jon Reilly as PD/afternoon drive host, succeeding Brian Driver, who exited in January. Reilly was most recently PD at Clear Channel’s "96.3 Star Country" WMAD, Madison, WI.
Steve Kelly
Journal Radio’s KTTS, Springfield, MO program director and afternoon drive host Steve Kelly exits the country station after nine months.
Don Burns
CBS Radio’s "The Wave" KTWV, Los Angeles parts company with afternoon host Don Burns. It’s the latest in a string of changes at the smooth AC station, including the recent announcement that Kim Amidon would succeed Brian McKnight in mornings.
Doug Thomas
Tribune promotes Doug Thomas to EVP/GM for Tribune 365, the company’s national sales solutions group. Previously, Thomas held the position of senior vice president and general manager for the western and retail divisions of Tribune365.
Ric Mitchell
Longtime Albany, NY morning fixture Ric Mitchell exits Pamal AC "B-95.5" WYJB where he was paid with co-host Laura, who remains on the air. Mitchell was also programming the station.
Big Daddy Graham
CBS Radio’s "Sportsradio 610" WIP, Philadelphia overnight host Big Daddy Graham will return to the air May 27 if all goes well. He tells the Philadelphia Inquirer that he’s completed treatment for throat cancer. Doctors discovered the cancer as he was being prepared for back surgery.
Ron Bowen
Former "Wave 101" WAVV, Ft. Myers, FL programmer Ron Bowen turns up in the Cayman Islands, where he’s the new ops manager for dms Broadcasting’s four station cluster. He’ll also program the cluster’s CHR "Kiss-FM." Bowen’s also worked in Boston, Baltimore and Charlotte.
Eddie White
Emmis announces "1070 The Fan" TK, Indianapolis afternoon drive personality Eddie White will transition to part-time work, allowing him to pursue his sports public relations and marketing side business. No successor has been named.
Special K
Clear Channel CHR "103.5 Kiss FM" WKSC-FM, Chicago promotes night host Special K to music director. He’s been at the station for two years, doing production work, fill-in shifts and was promoted to nights last October. Special K previously worked for Clear Channel’s Total Traffic Network.
Brad Austin
NRG Media names Brad Austin as OM/PD of country "Y-106.5" WYTE and AC "Mix 96.7" WLJY in the Wausau-Stevens Point, WI market. He succeeds Jesse Garcia, who left the cluster last month to become PD for Federated Media's country "B-100" WBYT, South Bend, IN.

Townsquare Media’s rhythmic CHR "Hot 107.9" KHXT, Lafayette, LA adds air personality Chris Reed to its staff.
