News/talk arrives on FM in West Texas.

 

Listeners in Odessa-Midland, TX got a holiday gift with the arrival of the market’s first news/talk station on FM.  CDA Broadcasting news/talk KWEL (1070) is now simulcasting via translator at 107.1. The simulcast coincides with an expansion to 24/7 programming.  Previously the format wasn’t available after dark, when the AM daytimer is required to power down.

"We decided the FM addition would give us a better presence and attract new listeners," morning host Craig Anderson tells the publication My West Texas. Anderson says the addition of an FM signal and an expanded schedule will allow for the possibility of more local programming.
