Oasis offer for ex-Federated staff.
Oasis Radio Group looks to live up to its name for some Ft. Wayne, IN radio employees destined for radio’s unemployment desert. Oasis’ three-station crosstown cluster is offering full- and part-time jobs to all the employees downsized by Federated Media last week. It’s believed about a dozen people were dismissed as part of a downsizing. Oasis GM Phil Becker expects to have some on the payroll by week’s end.
“Both our listeners and local businesses benefit from having broadcasters who live here, shop here and do business here,” Becker says. “We want to be part of the Fort Wayne’s economic recovery, and that means keeping people on the job whenever possible.”
The only impediment may be non-compete agreements. “It’s sad when companies that are downsizing terminate loyal employees of 10+ years and then prevent them from working at another station in town,” he says.
Oasis owns country “US 93.3” WBTU, CHR “Hot 107.9” WJFX and urban “106.3 Click Hop” WHPP in the Ft. Wayne market.
