SALES – STATIONS

Philadelphia – The North Penn School District has reportedly struck a $2.3 million to buy the currently silent WNPV, Lansdale, PA (1440) from Phillip Hunt. The school district is not interested in the radio station license however it does want the 13.41-acre site where the station’s studios and five antennas are located that is adjacent to the North Penn High School. In April Hunt told the FCC that WNPV had gone silent explaining that “under current market conditions it is no longer sustainable” to continue to run the business in a way that meets he thinks a radio station should be run after nearly 60-years of owning WNPV. Hunt said then he was looking for a buyer for the AM that signed-on Oct. 17, 1960. Not included in the sale is the companion FM translator – the Lansdale, PA-licensed W253CA at 98.5 FM.

Oklahoma – Richard Sellers’ Oil Patch Radio has filed a $325,000 deal to buy talk/spots KUSH, Cushing, OK (1600) from Kelly Media. Sellers does not own any other stations.

Salt Lake City – El Sembrador Ministries has filed a $260,000 deal to buy adult standards “Unforgettable 1430” KLO from John and Richard Webb’s KLO Broadcasting. The religious broadcaster will also pay an additional $6,5000 to cover half of the bill for KLO’s towers to be painted. Also, the contract says the rare three-letter call sign KLO is not included in the sale. El Sembrador Ministries currently owns stations in California and Nevada. Once the sale closes, KLO Broadcasting will still own hot AC “Now 97.9” KBZN and ‘80s Hits “103.1 The Wave” KSQN in the Salt Lake market. Broker: Sandi Bergman

Tennessee – Michael Brandt’s Southern Broadcasting has filed a $250,000 deal to buy classic rock “93.9 The Fox” WWGM and gospel WDTM (1150) in Selmer, TN from Grace Broadcasting Services. Southern Broadcasting will operate the stations under a time brokerage agreement until closing. It does not own any other stations.

Columbus, OH – Mark Litton’s ICS Communications has filed a $220,000 deal to buy religious “1580 The Praise” WVKO from TSJ Media. The deal also includes the Columbus, OH-licensed translator W225CS at 92.9 FM. ICS Communications will operate the station under a local marketing agreement until closing.

Oregon – Jeff Montgomery’s PacNW Broadcasting has filed a $170,000 deal to buy classic rock “100.7 Boss FM” KPPT-FM, Depoe Bay, OR from Tom Hodgins’ Xana Oregon. Montgomery does not own any other stations. Once the sale closes Xana Oregon will still new news-talk KCUP (1230) in the area. Broker: MCH Enterprises

Nevada – Lucky Boy Educational Media files a $13,000 deal to buy classic hits simulcast of KQMC, Hawthorne, NV (90.1) and KELC, Hawthorne, NV (91.9); and contemporary Christian “K-Love” affiliate KQNV, Fallon, NV (89.9) from Carl Auel.

Los Angeles – White Fox Horse Rescue files to transfer the currently-silent KTCN, Acton, CA (88.3) to Common Communications Southern California. Common Communications Southern California is an organization that says it is devoted to the education of music and the arts and it will use KTCN to air an “alternative radio format” with “underground music.” The organization is controlled by Gina Zycher, Mark Chang, and Todd Urick. Urick is a longtime advocate for low-power FM.

SALES – TRANSLATORS

Utah – Jeff Jennings’ Southwest Media Advertising has filed a $60,000 deal to buy the Cedar City, UT-licensed translator K261EN at 100.1 FM from Tri-Star Media. The filing says the translator will simulcast Southern Utah State College’s alternative rock KSUU, Cedar City, UT (91.1).

Denver – Zee Ferrufino’s Latino Communications has filed a $50,000 deal to buy the Denver, CO-licensed translator K249EX at 97.7 FM from Vic Michael’s Mountain Community Translators. Latino Communications will simulcast regional Mexican “Que Bueno 1280” KBNO on the translator.

Texas – Carlos Lopez has filed a $30,000 deal to buy the South Padre Island, TX-licensed translator K287BP at 105.3 FM from Powell Meredith Communications. The filing says the translator will simulcast religious KJJF, Harlingen, TX (88.9).

CLOSINGS

Charlotte, NC – David Bruce’s Blue Ridge Broadcasting has closed a $445,000 deal to buy religious WAVO (1150) from GHB Broadcasting. The deal also includes the Charlotte-licensed W282BP at 104.3 FM and the Rock Hill, SC-licensed W268DM at 101.5 FM. The filing shows the two FM translators are valued at multiples that of the AM full-power station. It attributes just $35,000 of the purchase price to WAVO with W282BP valued at $235,000 and W268DM valued at $175,000. Blue Ridge Broadcasting already owns stations in the Asheville, NC; Winston Salem, NC; and Knoxville, TN markets. Seller GHB Broadcasting also has a pending $210,000 deal to silent WCGC (1270) in the Charlotte to Carolina Catholic Radio Network. Once that sale is finalized it will still own regional Mexican “La Raza 106.1” WOLS and the silent WHVN (1240) in the market. Broker: Jorgenson Broadcast Brokerage

Ft. Myers-Naples, FL – Kol Halev 200 Corp. has closed a $45,000 deal to buy WBGY (88.1) from Everglades City Broadcasting Company. The buyer plans to launch a former that targets Jewish Americans with a mix of news, cultural, music and religious programming.

North Carolina – Richard Hall’s Mayo Broadcasting has closed on a donation of talk/religious simulcast WMYN, Mayodan, NC (1420) and WLOE, Eden, NC (1490) to the Beulah Baptist Church. The transfer also includes two translators: the Mayodan, NC-licensed W248DG at 97.5 FM and the Eden, NC-licensed W223DJ at 92.5 FM. Beulah Baptist Church will operate the stations under a time brokerage agreement until closing.
