Kentucky & West Virginia – Lynn Parrish’s Mountaintop Media files a $2.85 million deal to buy nine full-power stations plus five FM translators from East Kentucky Broadcasting. The stations include country WDHR (93.1) classic hits “”Hit City USA” WPKE (1240) and talk/sports WLSI (900) in Pikeville, KY; “Classic Rock 103.1 FM” WPKE-FM, Coal Run, KY; CHR “Z-107.5” WZLK, Virgie, KY; classic hits “Hit City USA” WEKB, Elkhorn City, KY; and talk/sports WPRT, Prestonburg, KY (960). Plus across the state line in West Virginia, Mountaintop Media buys “Coal Country” WXCC and talk/sports WBTH in Williamson, WV. The translators include the Elkhorn City, KY-licensed W282BZ at 104.3 FM; the Pikeville, KY-licensed W251AI at 98.1 FM; the Prestonsburg, KY-licensed W283AP at 104.5 FM; the Pikeville, KY-licensed W240CL at 95.9 FM; and the Williamson, WV-licensed W273BC at 102.5 FM. Mountaintop Media will operate the stations under a time brokerage agreement until closing.

Washington, DC – La Promesa Foundation files a $1.5 million deal to buy religious WMET, Gaithersburg, MD (1160) from Huffines Media. The deal also includes the Falls Church, VA-licensed translator W276DT at 103.1 FM. WMET becomes the Foundation’s first station in the Washington market. The station already carries its religious Guadalupe Radio Network.

Orlando – Roger Holler’s MARC Radio Group files an $800,000 deal to buy Spanish-language WRLZ (1270) from Radio Luz. MARC Radio Group already owns six stations in the Gainesville-Ocala, FL market. Once the sale closes Radio Luz will still own WIWA (1160) in the Orlando market. Broker: Hadden & Associates

Albany, NY – Mars Hills Broadcasting files a $600,000 deal to buy religious “New Light 96.7” WDCD-FM from Don Crawford Jr.’s DJR Broadcasting. Mars Hill Broadcasting already operates in several other New York markets including Long Island, Rochester, Syracuse, and Utica-Rome. In September, DJR Broadcast voluntarily surrendered the license for WDCD (1540) to the FCC. Broker: Griffin Media Brokers

Hawaii – Carla Morris and Sally Dobson’s Resonate Hawaii files a $550,000 deal to buy “Country 107.7” KKOA, Volcano, HI and classic rock “Lava 105.3” KBGX, Keaau, HI from John Weller’s Mahalo Multimedia. The deal also includes five booster FM signals. Resonate Hawaii already owns AC “The Beach” KTBH-FM/KWYI/KIPA (102.7/106.9/1060) and CHR “The Wave” KHWI/KHBC (92.1/92.7) on the Big Island of Hawaii. Texas – Lavon Randall’s Villanova Media Group files a $6,000 deal to buy regional Mexican “Radio Fiesta 102.7” KQHM, Zapata, TX from Francisco San Millan’s Hispanic Target Media. Once the sale closes, Hispanic Target Media will still ow regional Mexican “Radio Amigo” KJJS (103.9) in Zapata, TX. Broker: Rockwell Media Services

Panama City, FL – Ron Hale’s Omni Broadcasting files a $5,000 deal to buy variety WKGC (1480) from Gulf Coast Community College. Omni Broadcasting already owns sports “The Ticket” WTKP (93.5) in the market. Once the sale closes the College will still own jazz-news/talk WKGC-FM (90.7) in the Panama City market.

American Samoa – Teen Challenge International files to donate KMOA, Nu’Uuli, AS (89.7) to Teen Challenge of American Samoa. The filing says there will be no change in the management or operation of the station.

SALES – TRANSLATORS

Washington – Stanley Fukuhara files to transfer the Malaga, WA-licensed translator K251AZ at 98.1 FM to Greg Hindman in a cash-free deal. The signal simulcasts Wheeler Broadcasting’s classic rock “98.5 The Key” KEYG-FM, Grand Coulee, WA.

CLOSINGS

New York – Kristin Crantrell’s Seven Mountains Media has closed a $3.9 million deal that will see Bruce Mittman and Jim Leven’s Community Broadcasters exit two markets in New York’s Southern Tier region. Seven Mountains Media buys country “100.9 The Wolf” WPGI, CHR “Wink 106.1” WNKI, rock “Wingz 104.9” WNGZ, talk WWLZ (820) and “Classic Country 1490” WRCE in the Elmira-Corning, NY market. The deal also includes the Horseheads, NY-licensed translator W267CJ at 101.3 FM which simulcasts WWLZ. And in the adjacent Olean, NY market Seven Mountains buys country “95.7 The Pig” WPIG and CHR WHDL (1450). The deal also includes the Olean, NY-licensed translator W296DB at 107.1 FM which allows WHDL to brand itself as “Hot 107.1.” Seven Mountains Media already owns four stations across the state line in Pennsylvania adjacent to the Elmira-Corning market including “Bigfoot Country” WZBF/WNBT-FM (96.9/104.5), classic hits WOGA-FM & AM (92.3/1490). Community Broadcasters still owns stations in the Watertown, NY region, South Carolina, and Florida. Florence-Muscle Shoals, AL – Singing River Group files a $1.275 million deal to buy country WLAY-FM (100.1), classic rock “Rock 105.5 The Big Dog” WVNA-FM, urban “Power 94.9” WMSR-FM, urban AC “V-101.5” WMXV, and the currently-silent WLAY (1450) and WVNA (1590) from Kevin Wagner’s Urban Radio Broadcasting. Singing River Group is controlled by Parker Griffith, Thomas Griffith and Mike Self. They don’t own any other radio stations. Broker: George Reed, Media Services Group

Alabama – Nick Jones’ Southern Torch closes a $600,000 deal to buy country “K-98.3” WKEA-FM, Scottsboro, AL and classic hits “101.7 The Storm” WMXN-FM, Stevenson, AL from Ron Livengood’s Kea Radio. The deal also includes the Scottsboro, AL-licensed translator W289BV at 105.7 FM which simulcasts WKEA-FM.

Rome, GA – Educational Media Foundation closes $200,000 deal to buy classic rock “The Ridge 95.7” WATG from Randy Davis’ TTA Broadcasting. After the deal closes Davis will still own “Talk Radio 1410” WLAQ in the Rome market. Broker: Eddie Esserman, Media Services Group

Kansas – St. Macrina Media and Education Society closes a $32,000 deal to buy the currently-silent KTRU, La Harpe, KS (91.9) from Grace Public Radio. Broker: Dave Garland

Florida – Ferris Waller closes a $30,000 deal to buy classic country “Boss Hog Radio” WKFL, Bushnell, FL (1170) from TalknSports. Waller also has a stake in Walco Enterprises which owns classic country “Boss Hog Radio” WHNR (1360) in the Lakeland-Winter Haven, FL market.
