SALES – STATIONS

Louisiana – Brandon Forester’s Alpha-Omega Broadcasting has filed a $1.2 million deal to buy classic country “Q-94.1” KRLQ, Hodge, LA and R&B Oldies “XM-102” KWXM, Simsboro, LA from William Brown. The two FMs cover the area between Shreveport, LA (market No. 144) and Monroe, LA (market No. 238). Alpha-Omega Broadcasting does not own any other stations. Forester has been the sales manager at KRLQ since 2011.

Norfolk-Virginia Beach, VA – Steve Hegwood’s Core Radio Group has filed a $500,000 deal to buy adult alternative “The Tide” WXTG-FM from Davis Media. Hegwood is the veteran urban radio programmer whose Core Radio Group operates the Hip-Hop station ““Streetz 94.5” in the Atlanta market which airs on the Atlanta-licensed translator W233BF at 94.5 FM. Hegwood will operate WXTG-FM under a time brokerage agreement until closing. Once the sale is finalized, Davis Media will still own “92.3 The Tide” WTYD/WBQK (92.3/107.9) in the region.

Reno, NV – Lotus Radio has filed a $50,000 deal to buy ranchera “La Mexican” KFOY (1060) from Lazer Broadcasting. Lotus already owns seven stations in the Reno market including “Rock 104.5” KDOT, classic rock KOZZ-FM (105.7), adult alternative “The X 100.1” KTHX-FM, sports “ESPN Radio 94.5” KUUB, “Fox Sports 630” KPLY, and sports KHIT (1450), talk/sports KCKQ (1180). Because seven is the maximum allowed in a market the size of Reno, Lotus has told the FCC that it plans to surrender the license for KCKQ in order to remain in compliance with the local radio ownership rule. With a lower dial position and more power, KFOY has better coverage area especially at night when KCKQ has a highly directional coverage map. Once the sale closes, Lazer Broadcasting will still own regional Mexican “Radio Lazer” KSRN (107.7) and CHR “Latino 106.3” KWNZ in the market.

SALES – TRANSLATORS

Northern Mariana Islands – Blue Continent Communications has filed a $48,000 deal to buy the Garapan, MP-licensed translator K221EF at 92.1 FM from MCS. The signal simulcasts KKMP Grapan-Saipan, MP (1140) which is already owned by Blue Continent Communications.

Arizona – Prescott Broadcasting has filed a $7,500 deal to buy the Prescott, AZ-licensed translator K228DF at 93.5 FM from Family Life Broadcasting. Prescott Broadcasting currently operates easy listening KAHM, Spring Valley, AZ (102.1) under a local marketing agreement with owner Chavez Radio Group.

CLOSINGS

Indiana – Dewayne Shake Broadcasting has closed on a $1.35 million deal to buy classic hits “Memories 107.9” WAMW-FM and country “The General 1580” WAMW in Washington, IN from Dave Crooks’ DLC Media. The deal also includes the Washington, IN-licensed translator W240CE at 95.9 FM and the Montgomery, IN-licensed W267CP at 101.3 FM both of which simulcast “The General.” Shake knows the stations well. He is the morning host on WAMW-FM and also does sales and play-by-play for the AM/FM combo.

Alaska – Alaska Broadcast Television has closed a $200,000 deal to buy KABN, Kenai, AK (960) from Peninsula Communications. The deal also includes the Kenai -Soldotna, AK-licensed K253CQ at 98.5 FM. Alaska Broadcast Television already owns the low-power TV station KCFT-CD (channel 35) in the Anchorage market and KABN is its first radio station.

Atlantic City-Cape May, NJ – Hope Christian Church of Marlton adds to its New Jersey radio holdings as it closed a $100,000 deal to buy Christian rock WXGN (90.5) from Joy Broadcasting. The closing of the sale is conditioned on Joy Broadcasting taking control of the low power station WLOM-LP (92.7) in the Atlantic City market.

Fort Wayne, IN – Brian Walsh has closed a $50,000 deal to buy WGL (1250) from Adams Radio Group. Walsh already owns “Oldies 101.1” WIOE in the Fort Wayne market. The deal also includes the Fort Wayne, IN-licensed translator W233CS at 94.5 FM. Adams Radio Group still owns four stations in the market including country “US -93.3” WBTU, CHR “Hot 107.9” WJFX, classic rock WXKE (96.3), and adult hits “103.9 Wayne FM” WWFW.

Georgia – Edgewater Broadcasting has closed on deal to swap classic hits “My FM” WSIZ-FM, Jacksonville, GA (102.3) and two FM translators: the Ocilla, GA-licensed W251AU at 98.1 FM and the Douglas, GA-licensed W260BU at 99.9 FM – to Middle Georgia Community Radio. In exchange, Middle George Community Radio has handed over religious “Freedom Radio FM” WKIH, Vidalia, GA (90.3) to Edgewater Broadcasting. Under the terms of the deal, Edgewater will also make a $55,000 payment to Middle Georgia Community Radio.

Ft. Walton Beach-Destin, FL – The Ft. Walton Beach Educational Broadcasting Foundation has closed on its deal to donate contemporary Christian WPSM (91.1) to the Destiny Worship Center.

Florida – Carl Auel has closed a deal to donate Christian Rock “Call FM” WPSF, Clewiston, FL (91.5) to Call Communications Group. Call Communications Group already owns four other full-power FMs in Florida, and several FM translators.
