Sacramento – Ranjit Singh Bajwa and Sarabjit Kaur Dahiya’s Dabaj files a $1.4 million deal to buy ethnic “Radio Punjab” KRPU (1210) from New Media Broadcasting. Dabaj doesn’t own any other stations. Once the deal closes New Media Broadcasting will still own stations in the San Francisco; Seattle; Bakersfield, CA; and Visalia-Tulare-Hanford, CA markets.
Harrisburg-Lebanon-Carlisle, PA – Forever Broadcasting files a $1.225 million deal to buy AC “Soft Rock 100.1” and talk WLBR (1270) from Lebanon Broadcasting. Forever Media already operates in several Pennsylvania markets but the deal brings it into the Harrisburg- Lebanon-Carlisle, PA for the first time. It also owns stations in the nearby State College, York, and Altoona markets. The sale marks the end of an era. The Etter family has owned the stations for more than 70 years and Lebanon Broadcasting president Robert Etter says because his sons work outside radio he agreed to sell the AM/FM combo to Forever Media. U.S. Virgin Islands – North Caribbean Conference Seventh-Day Adventist files a $950,000 deal to buy religious WGOD-FM, Charlotte Amalie, VI (97.9) from Three Angels Broadcasting. Once the sale closes Three Angels Broadcasting will still own religious WIGT (1690) and the currently-silent WUVI (1090) in Charlotte Amalie.
Salina-Manhattan, KS – Divine Mercy Radio files a $340,000 deal to buy classic country “Real Country 101.7” KDJM from Randy Michael’s Radioactive. Divine Mercy Radio already owns religious “Divine Mercy Radio 88.1” KVDM, Hays, KS and “Divine Mercy Radio 88.1” KRTT, Great Bend, KS. KDJM has most recently been operated by Rocking M Radio.
Raleigh-Durham, NC –Johnson Broadcast Ventures files a $155,000 deal to buy the currently-silent WMPM (1270) from Family Media Group. The deal also includes a construction permit for the Smithfield, NC-licensed translator W232DO at 94.3 FM. Jimmy Johnson already owns gospel/R&B oldies WCTB, Roanoke Rapids, NC (1230). He’ll operate WMPM under a time brokerage agreement until closing.
Tennessee – 3B Properties files a $150,000 deal to buy bluegrass WYHM, Rockwood, TN (580) from The Holler. The deal also includes the Rockwood, TN-licensed translator W280FK at 103.9 FM. 3B Properties already owns three other stations in the area including classic hits “105.7 The Hog” WIHG, AC “98.9 The Wolf” WOFE and CHR “The Vibe” WVVB (1410).
Beaumont-Port Arthur, TX – Carlos Lopez files a $125,527 deal to buy the currently-silent KLLS (1300) from Southeast Texas Telcom. The deal includes a 12-year promissory note held by the seller for the full purchase price. Lopez already owns Tejano “La Tejanita 97.9” KQSA in the San Antonio region.
Tennessee – Greg Comb’s Providential Broadcasting files a $10,000 deal to buy the currently-silent WXRQ, Mount Pleasant, TN (1460) from New Life Broadcasting. WXRQ went off the air in July when it told the FCC it had lost access to its longtime rented transmitter site following the death of the property’s owner. It said it was looking for a new site.
SALES – TRANSLATORS
Chicago – Tracey Bell’s Integrated Brand Marketing has filed a $3.5 million deal to buy two translators from Windy City Broadcasting. The signals include the Chicago-licensed W236CF at 95.1 FM and the Bolingbrook, IL-licensed W236CG at 95.1 FM. Both signals current carrying the urban “95.1 FM Clubsteppin” format relayed off the HD2 channel of Spanish Broadcasting System’s regional Mexican “La Ley 107.9” WLEY-FM. Integrated Brand Marketing will operate the translators under a local marketing agreement until closing. The price tag for the two translators is identical to the amount Future Vision Entertainment agreed to pay in a deal filed last August. That transfer was never finalized.
Utah – David Barton closes a $200,000 deal to buy classic country KNEU, Roosevelt, UT (1250) from Evans Broadcasting. The deal also includes the Roosevelt, UT-licensed translator K228FR at 93.5 FM. Joseph and Teddie Evans still own adult hits “92.5 Jack FM” KCUA, Maeser, UT and AC “98.5 The Fox” KIFX, Naples, UT.
