SALES – STATIONS

Miami & Tampa – Immaculate Heart Media files an $8,218,875 deal to buy four AMs and three FM translators from Salem Media Group in Florida. In Miami, Immaculate Heart Media files to buy Spanish Christian “Radio Luz” WKAT (1080), business news “880 The Biz” WZAB, plus the Miami-licensed translator W249DM at 97.7 FM which simulcasts WKAT. And in Tampa-St. Petersburg, Immaculate Heart Media files to buy Spanish Christian “Radio Luz” WLCC (760), business news “1380 The Biz” WWMI, plus the Tampa-licensed translator W282CI at 104.3 FM which simulcasts WLCC, and a construction permit for the St. Petersburg, FL-licensed translator W260DM at 99.9 FM. The sale in the Miami and Tampa markets follows a deal filed last month to sell one of its AMs and an FM translator in the Orlando market to JVC Media for $900,000. Once the sale closes Salem will still own Spanish religious WOCN (1450) in Miami and three stations in Tampa including talk “AM 860 The Answer” WGUL and religious “Faith Talk 570/910” WTBN/WTWD. The contract stipulates that Immaculate Heart will not get the intellectual property or the call sign of Miami’s WKAT as part of the deal so that may reappear on what is currently WOCN. Allentown-Bethlehem, PA – Victor Martinez’s Hispanic Broadcasting Radio files a $1.35 million deal to buy tropical WHOL “Mega” simulcast of WEST (1400) and WHOL (1600) from Matthew Braccili’s Lehigh Valley Broadcasting Association. The deal also includes three translators including the Allentown, PA-licensed W295CR at 106.9 FM; the Bethlehem, PA-licensed W258BM at 99.5 FM; and the Easton, PA-licensed W288DS at 105.5 FM. The contract includes a $1.1 million promissory note to be paid out over a 15-year period. Martinez will operate the stations under a time brokerage agreement until closing.

St. Louis – Paul Berry files a $650,000 deal to buy talk WGNU (920) and religious KXEN (1010) from Burt Kaufman’s Radio Property Ventures. The deal also includes the St. Louis-licensed translators K295CQ at 106.9 FM and K28CI at 104.5 FM. Berry Broadcasting will operate WGNU under a time brokerage agreement until closing. Kaufman has owned KXEN since 1986 and WGNU since 2007. Paul Berry is the nephew of rock legend and St. Louis native Chuck Berry. Broker: Kozacko Media Services

Orlando – Ernesto Javier Sanchez’s CFL Broadcasting Network files a $400,000 deal to buy the Orlando, FL-licensed W228DF at 93.5 FM from Elohim Group. The translator currently simulcasts Entercom’s classic hits “105.9 Sunny FM” WOCL.

Virginia – Ilmar and Gerardo Ruiz’s Hosanna Christian Media files a $57,500 deal to buy gospel “105.5 Hot Joy Radio” WHLQ, Lawrenceville, VA from Ronnie D. Joyner Ministries. Hosanna Christian Media will operate the station under a time brokerage agreement until closing.

SALES – TRANSLATORS

Wilmington, DE – Forever Media files a $275,000 deal to buy the Wilmington, DE-licensed translator W245CJ at 96.9 FM from Ritmo Broadcasting. The signal will be used to give the 2,500-watt daytime-only gospel “Faith 1510” WFAI a 24-hour signal. Beasley Media Group has leased the translator since 2016 to carry the HD3 subchannel of AC “Mix 99.5” WJBR-FM to create the Spanish-language “Ritmo 96.9” brand. The programming will remain on the Millville, NJ-licensed translator W289By at 105.7 FM.

Multistate Deal – Educational Media Foundation files a $60,000 deal to buy four FM translators for Edgewater Broadcasting. The deal includes the Hobbs, NM-licensed K283BC at 104.5 FM; the Burley, SD-licensed K279CV at 103.7 FM; the Pocatello, ID-licensed K218EZ at 91.5 FM; and the Morehead, KY-licensed W227AX at 93.3 FM.

South Dakota – James Nelly files a $15,000 dealt to buy the Hot Springs, SD-licensed translator K232EB at 94.3 FM from Edgewater Broadcasting. The FCC has approved relocating the translator to Hardin, MT at 105.7 FM. Nelly Broadcasting owns four stations in Idaho.

Washington – Chehalis Valley Educational Foundation files a $14,000 deal to buy the Enumclaw, WA-licensed translator K293AY at 106.5 FM from Spirit Communications. The Foundation will use the signal to relay contemporary Christian KACS, Chehalis, WA (90.5). Broker: MCH Enterprises

Texas & California – Hector Guevara’s Centro Cristiano de Vida Eterna closes a $700,000 deal to buy two FMs and 14 FM translators from Paulino Bernal. The stations include Spanish contemporary Christian “Radio Cristiana” outlets KVFM, Beeville, TX (91.3) and KPMB, Plainview, TX (88.5). The translators include the Hereford, TX-licensed K201EP at 88.1 FM; the Freeport, TX-licensed K201FA at 88.1 FM; the Red Bluff, CA-licensed K207CM at 89.3 FM; the El Campo, TX-licensed K208DK at 89.5 FM; the Edna, TX-licensed K209DB at89.7 FM; the McFarland, TX-licensed K209DN at 89.7 FM; the Victoria, TX-licensed at 90.1 FM; the Bay City, TX-licensed K212FE at 90.3 FM; the Mineral Wells, TX-licensed K213CS at 90.5 FM; the Louise, TX-licensed K216EI at 91.1 FM; the Ridgecrest, TX-licensed K217DA at 91.9 FM; the San Marcos, TX-licensed K218CO at 91.5 FM; the Los Banos, CA-licensed K220GR at 91.9 FM; and the Port Lavaca, TX-licensed K220HF at 91.9 FM. The deal includes a $650,000 promissory note.

Albany, NY – Mars Hills Broadcasting closes a $600,000 deal to buy religious “New Light 96.7” WDCD-FM from Don Crawford Jr.’s DJR Broadcasting. Mars Hill Broadcasting already operates in several other New York markets including Long Island, Rochester, Syracuse, and Utica-Rome. In September 2018 DJR Broadcasting voluntarily surrendered the license for WDCD (1540) to the FCC. Broker: Griffin Media Brokers

Augusta-Waterville, ME – Lee L’Heureux and Pat Cerullo’s MaineInvests closes a $106,300 deal to buy “Country Memories 1280” WJYE, Gardiner, ME from Bob Bittner Broadcasting. The deal also includes the Gardiner, ME-licensed translator W292FZ at 106.3 FM.

Florida – Dockins Communications closes a $45,000 deal to buy the currently-silent WMAF, Madison, FL (1230) from Geneva Walker. The sale also includes the Madison, FL-licensed translator W223DG at 92.5 FM. Fred Dockins already owns three stations in the area including country “Froggy 93.5” WFDZ, classic rock “92.1” The Breeze” WNFK and classic rock “The Zone” WPRY (1400).

Idaho – Michael and Ariel Kestler’s Calvary Chapel of Twin Falls closes a $35,000 deal to buy KCNU, Silver City, ID (103.9) from Summit Broadcasting. KCNU is a construction permit for a Class C3 FM covering an area to the southwest of Boise.

Florida – Spirit Radio of North Florida closes a deal to donate the currently-silent WWLC, Cross City, FL (88.5) to the University of Florida. WWLC covers an area west of the Gainesville market. The University of Florida already owns three stations in the Gainesville market including WUFT-FM (89.1), “Country 103.7 The Gator” WRUF-FM, and sports WRUF (850), plus an FM covering an area to the south of the market: WJUF, Inverness (90.1) which relays WUFT-FM. It also owns local PBS affiliate WUFT-TV (channel 5).

American Samoa – Teen Challenge International closes a deal to donate KMOA, Nu’Uuli, AS (89.7) to Teen Challenge of American Samoa. The filing says there will be no change in the management or operation of the station.
