Ohio – Holy Family Communications files a $175,000 deal to buy AC/oldies “94.9 The Beat” WONB, Ada, OH from Ohio Northern University. Holy Family Communications already owns religious teaching WJTA, Glansdorf, OH (88.9) and the Finlay, OH-licensed translator W256CJ at 99.1 FM in the area.

Columbus, OH – The Ohio State University files a deal to buy the currently-silent WDUB (91.1) from Denison University. The purchase includes $5,000 cash plus an agreement by Ohio State to air promotional announcements for Denison University during the next four years on its radio and television properties worth a combined $47,040. That will include 120 underwriting spots on WOSU radio per month and 150 promotional spots on WOSU-TV. Ohio State will also create an internship program for Denison students interested in broadcasting. The sale doesn’t include the WDUB call letters which had been used for Denison’s “The Doobie” format. It continues as an online station.

CLOSINGS

Ft. Collins, CO –Joe Jaquint’s Patriot Trading Group closes a $250,000 deal to buy talk KHNC (1340) from Donald and Sharon Wiedeman. The deal includes a $167,500 promissory note. Phoenix-based Patriot Trading Group is a seller of precious metals which produces the “Patriot Radio News Hour” on KHNC which is hosted by Jaquint.

Raleigh-Durham, NC –Johnson Broadcast Ventures closes a $155,000 deal to buy gospel WMPM (1270) from Family Media Group. The deal also includes a construction permit for the Smithfield, NC-licensed translator W232DO at 94.3 FM. Jimmy Johnson already owns gospel/R&B oldies WCTB, Roanoke Rapids, NC (1230).

Greenville-Spartanburg, SC – Bob Corlew’s New Mountains To Climb closes a $70,000 deal to buy classic country WQUL (1510) from BJL Broadcasting. The deal also includes the Woodruff, SC-licensed translator W269DM at 101.7 FM.
