Salisbury-Ocean City, MD -- Draper Holdings has filed a deal to add another station to its cluster in market No. 133. It has agreed to pay $550,000 to buy rhythmic CHR “OC-104” WOCQ from Adams Radio Group. The deal also includes the Salisbury, MD-licensed translator at 104.3 FM. And the Ocean Pines, MD-licensed translator W286BB at 105.1 FM. The translators make up the oldies “Kool 104.3/105.1” format which broadcasts originating on WOCQ-HD2. Draper Holdings already owns AC WBOC-FM (102.5), rock “93.5 The Beach” WZBH, and classic rock “Big 107.7” WGBG in the Salisbury-Ocean City market. It also owns four nearby stations including “106.3 Chesapeake Country” WCEM-FM and “Sports Radio 1240” WCEM in Cambridge, MD; “100.9 Classic Country” WAAI, Hurlock, MD; and classic hits “107.1 The Duck” WTDK Federalsburg MD. It is the latest deal-making between the companies. In October, Draper Holders bought WZBH and WGBG from Adams Radio Group for $2.2 million. The company’s TV properties include the local CBS, Fox, NBC and Telemundo affiliates in the Salisbury-Ocean City market.
Fresno -- Fat Dawg 7 Broadcasting’s Christopher Pacheco files to sell his 50% stake in One Putt Broadcasting to Katrina Ostlund for $1.4 million. The other half of One Putt continues to be held by John Oslund. The move ends a partnership that dates to 2013 and included alternative “New Rock 104.1” KFRR, classic rock “95.7 The Fox” KJFX, and classic hits “Jewel FM 105.5” KJWL in the Fresno market. One Putt separately owns CHR “99.3 Now FM” KWDO and oldies KYNO (940). Once the sale closes, Fat Dawgs 7 Broadcasting will still own sports “1430 ESPN Radio” KFIG and “790 ESPN Radio” KFPT in the market.
Texas -- Gerald Benavides has filed a $275,000 deal to buy variety KXQT, Stanton, TX (105.9) from Four R Broadcasting. The deal includes a $225,000 promissory note. Benavides owns eight other Texas stations but none overlaps with KXQT.
Alabama -- Marble City Media has filed an $80,000 deal to buy the Tallassee, AL-licensed translator W266BJ at 101.1 FM from Hughey Communications. Marble City Media plans to use the signal to simulcast the HD2 channel of AC “AU-100” WAUE-FM, Waverly, AL.
South Dakota – Duane Butt and Dean Sorenson have sold their 30% interests in classic hits KXLG, Milbank, SD (99.1) and the Milbank, SD-licensed translator K262CK at 100.3 FM. And Bob Faehn – who is the station’s general manager – cut his 40% stake to 25%. In their place, Boldt Media, Mindy and Tracy Huntington, and Steve and Marla Willard have each closed a deal to buy a 25% stake in the station for a combined $2.5 million.
Elmira-Corning, NY – Montrose Broadcasting has closed a $50,000 deal to buy religious WPGO (820) from Family Life Ministries Radio. The sale is the final move by Family Life which did a multimarket swap with Seven Mountains Media earlier this year. WPGO is the first for Montrose Broadcasting in the Elmira-Corning market although it owns five other religious stations along the New York-Pennsylvania border.
