Jackson, MS – Matthew Wesolowski’s SSR Communications has filed to transfer WSFZ (930) to iHeartMedia in a cash-free deal. Also included in the deal is the Jackson, MS-licensed translator W251DB at 98.1 FM. Once the deal closes, SSR Communications will still own talk WYAB (103.9) in the Jackson, MS market. Under the arrangement, rather than paying cash iHeart will accept interference on its short-spaced rock “103.7 The Fox” WFFX in the Laurel-Hattiesburg, MS market in exchange for picking up WSFZ. That will allow SSR to upgrade WYAB’s signal. For iHeart, the addition of WSFZ will give it another AM for its growing Black Information Network. The company will operate WSFX under a time brokerage agreement until closing. iHeartMedia already owns five stations in market No. 127 including R&B “Real 105.1” WJDZX-FM, gospel “Hallelujah 95.5” WHLH, classic rock “Z-106.7” WSTZ-FM, country “Miss 103 FM” WMSI-FM, and talk/sports WJDX (620).

Michigan -- Eric Mills and Scott Pastoor have filed an $85,000 deal to buy oldies WAKV, Otsego, MI (980) from Vintage Radio Enterprises. The deal also includes the Otsego, MI-licensed translator W255DF at 98.9 FM. Mills and Pastoor already own classic country “Jethro FM” WYGR (1530) and two FM translators in the area.

CLOSINGS

Washington, DC – iHeartMedia has closed a $1.2 million deal to buy talk “Black Information Network” affiliate WUST (1120) from Marquee Broadcasting. WUST becomes the sixth station in the market for iHeartMedia which also owns AC WASH (97.1), classic rock “Big 100.3” WBIG-FM, CHR “Hot 99.5” WIHT, country WMZQ-FM (98.7), alternative rock “DC-101” WWDC. Marquee Broadcasting still owns ethnic WCRW (1190) in the Washington market. Broker: Kalil

Miami, Pittsburgh & Riverside-San Bernardino, CA – iHeartMedia has closed a deal to pay $1 million in cash and to swap religious “Relevant Radio” KKDD Riverside-San Bernardino, CA (1290) and the Pittsburgh, PA-licensed translator W292DH at 106.3 FM to Relevant Radio. In exchange, Relevant Radio has agreed to swap to iHeart the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale market talk “Black Information Network” affiliate WZAB (880). As part of the deal, iHeart has agreed to relay Relevant Radio’s programming to the translator using the HD3 station of classic hits “3WS” WWSW-FM. The translator is currently carrying sports programming based at “ESPN Pittsburgh” WBGG (970).

Nebraska – Gary Shorman and Kurt David’s Eagle Radio has closed an $800,000 deal to buy “Rock 100.7” KRNP, Sutherland, NE and classic country “Z-93.5” KZTL, Paxton, NE from G.I. Family Radio. The deal gives Eagle Radio two more stations in the North Platte area where it already owns AC “Mix 97.1” KELN, “Q-Country 107.3” KNPQ and its simulcast on KOOQ (1410). It will operate KRNP and KZTL under a local marketing agreement until closing. Broker: Kalil

Denver – El Sembrador Ministries has closed a $420,000 deal to buy “Mile High Sports” KDCO (1340) from 4-K’s LLP. El Sembrador Ministries currently owns stations in California and Indiana, and this will be its first station in Colorado. Brokers: Sandi Bergman (for buyer) and Clifton Gardiner (for seller)

Colorado Springs, CO – Power 957 LLC has closed an $185,000 deal to buy KCBR (1040) from SGMK Communications Partners. The deal also includes the Colorado Springs, CO-licensed translator K239CH at 95.7 FM which gives the 15,000-watt daytime-only AM a 24-hour signal. The buyer is a partnership among Florian De Castro, Lynda Cink, and Ronda Bell. They do not own any other stations.

In a separate but related deal, Power 957 LLC has also closed a $65,000 deal to buy the Colorado Springs, CO-licensed translator K253AH at 98.5 FM from Todd Robinson’s United States CP. The signal has previously simulcast KCBR.

Montana – Cameron Maxwell’s Desert Mountain Broadcasting has closed a $50,000 deal to buy KYWL, Bozeman, MT (1490) from Chaparral Broadcasting. KYWL is a construction permit for a station with 1,000-watts day and 900-watts night. The deal also includes the Bozeman, MT-licensed construction permit K281CX at 104.1 FM. Desert Mountain Broadcasting already owns a cluster in the Billings, MT market.

Alabama – The Augustus Foundation has closed a $40,000 deal to buy WALQ, Carrville, AR (1130) from Westburg Broadcasting Montgomery. The station currently simulcasts Dothan, AL market AC/talk “Digital 1490 The Beast” WIRB.

Long Island, NY – Michael Celenza has closed a $20,000 deal to buy soft AC “The Breeze” WLIM, Medford, NY (1440) from Erick Salgado’s Radio Cantico Nuevo. WLIM also simulcasts on the Port Jefferson, NY-licensed translator W227CL at 93.3 which Celenza previously owned. Celenza also owns the New York, NY-licensed translator W292DV at 106.3 FM. It relays Westchester County ethnic WVIP (93.5) into Manhattan. Radio Cantico Nuevo still owns WTHE (1520), WNYG (1580), WLID (1370), WLIX-LP in the Long Island market.
