Seattle – Howard Kalmenson’s Lotus Communications has struck an $18 million deal to buy hot AC “Star 101.5” KPLZ, “News Radio” KOMO-FM &AM (97.7, 1000), and “Talk Radio 570” KVI from Sinclair Broadcast Group. Sinclair acquired its sole radio cluster as part of its 2017 deal to buy Fisher Broadcasting’s radio-television operation. It then added KOMO-FM last year. Under terms of the deal, Lotus pay $5 million in cash. The remaining $13 million of the sale price will, at Lotus’ option, be wired to Sinclair at closing or be allotted for radio advertising of Sinclair or its TV stations or other media properties on Lotus Communications’ radio stations. Lotus has radio properties in California, Nevada, Arizona and Idaho. Sinclair will also retain the KOMO call letters for its Seattle TV station. Seattle is a new market for Lotus, which focuses on the West with stations in California, Nevada, Arizona and Idaho. Kansas – Radio Vida Kansas has filed a $775,000 deal to buy talk “Fox News Radio 1410” KKLO, Leavenworth, KS from Vision Communications. The deal also includes the Lenexa, KS-licensed translator K224FF at 92.7 FM. Radio Vida Kansas already owns Spanish religious KZGC, Garden City, KS (91.9). Broker: Sandi Bergman

Colorado – Steve and Kristin Degenhardt’s KNS Broadcasting has filed a $695,000 deal to buy classic hits “104.7 The Mile” KKVM, Vail, CO and adult alternative “99.7 The Zephyr” KZYR, Avon, CO from Gary Schwedt’s Rocky Mountain Radio Group. The deal includes a promissory note for $521,250. KNS Broadcasting will operate the stations under a time brokerage agreement until closing.

Odessa-Midland, TX – VCY America has filed a $650,000 deal to buy regional Mexican “La Ley 104.7” KTXC from Gray Television. It is the only radio station for Gray Television, which acquired KTXC in June 2018 as part of its $3.65 billion buyout of Raycom Media. Under the terms of the deal religious broadcaster will relinquish the KTXC call letters to Gray. It is a second Texas market for VCY America which already owns KVCE (92.7) in the Lubbock market. Ft. Wayne, IN – Taylor University Broadcasting has filed a $350,000 deal to buy “Classical 94.1” WBNI from Public Broadcasting of Northeastern Indiana. Taylor University Broadcasting already owns contemporary Christian WBCL (90.3) in the market. It plans to put its “Rhythm and Praise” gospel format on WBNI. The sale will leave Public Broadcasting of Northeastern Indiana with news-talk WBOI (89.1) in the Ft. Wane market. It plans to shift the classical format to an internet-only station.

Oklahoma City – Casey Vinyard has filed a $!57,000 deal to buy “Sports Radio 1400” KREF from Debra Laffoon’s Metro Radio Group. The deal also includes the Norman, OK-licensed translator K257DA at 99.3 FM.

Missouri – Palmer Johnson has filed a $150,000 deal to buy country KDEX-FM & AM, Dexter, MO (102.3/1590) from Joeli Barbour’s Dexter Broadcasting Company. The deal includes a $145,000 promissory note. Johnson already owns country WTRB, Ripley, TN (1570).

Panama City, FL – Faith Radio Network has filed a $100,000 deal to buy the currently-silent WPCF (1290) from Evolution Broadcasting. The deal also includes the Panama City, FL-licensed translator W226CJ at 93.1 FM. Faith Radio Network owns four other stations in Florida.

Arkansas -- Pat Robertson has filed to donate contemporary Christian KOYH, Elaine, AR (95.5) to Ed and Jennifer Czelada’s Smile FM. The transfer will give Smile FM a second FM in the state. It already owns contemporary Christian KOYR, Yorktown, AR (88.5).

Texas – Faith in Christ Mission has filed to donate the currently-silent KCLW, Hamilton, TX (900) to Shane Carrington’s CTI Media Productions. Carrington does not own any other stations.


Mississippi & South Dakota – CSN International files to swap the Meridian, MS-licensed translator W217AQ at 91.3 FM and the Raymond, MS-licensed translator W214BE at 90.7 FM to Radio By Grace. In exchange, Radio By Grace will swap the Rapid City, SD-licensed translator K260BT at 99.9 FM to CSN International. No cash is changing hands as part of the deal.


Bakersfield, CA – Precious Mayes’ Shemogul Media has closed a $315,000 deal to buy KKCA from Colt Comm. Mayes is President and Chief Executive Officer of Pacifica Hospital of the Valley. She does not own any other radio stations. Broker: Guest Technology

Missouri – Louis Eckelkamp’s East Central Broadcasting has closed a deal to buy country KVMO, Vandalia, MO (104.3); classic rock “101.7 K-Wulf” KWUL, Elsberry, MO; and KLUQ, Hermann, MO (93.3); from Alma Corp. The terms of the deal include a $2,500 payment as well as forgiveness of a portion of the debt that is owned to Eckelkamp by Alma. The court documents say the total amount will not exceed $3 million. The stations have been overseen by a court-appointed receiver since 2016.

Peoria, IL – CRCI has closed on its deal to donate religious WPMJ (94.3) to the Covenant Network. The religious broadcaster already owns 16 full-power stations in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, and Louisiana.
