SALES – STATIONS

Williamsport, PA – Van Michael files a $5.9 million deal to buy six stations and an FM translator in market No. 262 from Daniel Farr. The stations include country WILQ (105.1), hot AC “My 107.9” WLMY, rock WZXR/WCXR (99.3/103.7), classic hits WBZD-FM (93.4), and sports “ESPN Radio 1340” WWPA. The deal also includes the Williamsport, PA-licensed FM translator W203BF at 101.3 FM which simulcasts WWPA. There will only be a minor change to the company’s letterhead despite its new owners. Seller Farr’s company is called Backyard Broadcasting PA. And Michael’s newly-formed company is called Backyard Broadcasting of Pennsylvania. Broker: Kalil

South Dakota & Minnesota – Prairie Winds Broadcasting files a $1.5 million deal to buy five full-power stations and three FM translators from Armada Media. The stations include adult hits “99.5 Jack FM” KJKQ, Sisseton, SD; country “Pheasant Country 103” KBWS-FM, Sisseton, SD (102.9); classic rock “Power 106.3” KPHR, Ortonville, MN; classic hits KMSD, Milbank, SD (1510); classic country KDIO, Ortonville, MN (1350). The FM translators include the Milbank, SD-licensed K252FB at 98.3 FM; the Milbank, SD-licensed K236CU at 95.1 FM; and the Ortonville, MN-licensed K233DL at 94.5 FM. Prairie Winds Broadcasting currently owns a six-station cluster in the Aberdeen, SD market.

Phoenix – William Brady’s Futures and Options files an $800,000 deal to buy “Independent Talk 1100” KFNX from Premier Radio Stations. The station has been overseen by a trustee since Lyle Campbell-owned Premiere Radio Stations filed chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2017. Campbell purchased KFNX for $4.875 million in 2005 after previous owner North American Broadcasting also went bankrupt. Broker: Kalil

Alabama – Bible Broadcasting Network files a $440,000 deal to buy religious WGTF, Dothan, AL (89.5) from Dothan Community Educational Radio. The station has been carrying Bible Broadcasting Network’s programming since December 1981. BBN currently owns 47 full-power stations including religious teaching WYFD (91.7) in the Huntsville, AL market as well as four translators in the state.

Pennsylvania – Twilight Broadcasting files a $88,500 deal to buy “The Voice” WEEU Reading (830) from Reading Eagle Co., which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in April. The newspaper company, which has owned the station since 1946, separately secured a deal to sell the paper to MediaNews Group. Twilight Broadcasting, which owns two stations in Oil City, PA – sports WKQW (1120) and AC WKQW-FM (96.3) – plans to continue WEEU’s combination of local and syndicated talk programming. The deal includes a time brokerage agreement prior to the sale closing but excludes the station’s facilities, which are being leased separately to Twilight.

Georgia – J.R. Hammett files a $50,000 deal to buy the currently-silent WKTF, Vienna, GA (1550) from Anthony Hernandez’s LEN Radio Broadcasting. Hammett will operate the station under a time brokerage agreement until closing. WKTF has been off the air since April when its transmitter site had problems with its power source.

Minnesota – Mike Obert and George Manus’ Zoe Communications file a $30,000 deal to buy the currently-silent WVVE, Grand Marais, MN (95.3) from Aurora Broadcasting. WVVE went silent in April telling the FCC its transmitter had failed.

SALES – TRANSLATORS

Orlando – iHeartMedia files a $550,000 deal to buy the Orlando, FL-licensed translator W231CT at 94.1 FM from Kyle Magrill’s Circuitwerkes. The filing says iHeart will simulcast talk WFLF (540) on the translator. The station already airs on the Orlando-licensed W226BT at 93.1 FM.

Alabama – Williams Communications files a $40,000 deal to buy the Gadsden, AL-licensed translator W248CE at 97.5 FM from Shelby Broadcast Associates. Williams will use the translator to continue relaying the HD2 channel of “Rock 105.9” WKLS, Southside, AL to create the “97.5 ESPN The Zone” format in Gadsden.

Iowa – Edgewater Broadcasting files to donate 11 FM translators to Radio By Grace. The translators include the Muscatine, IA-licensed translator K296GZ at 107.1 FM; the Burley, ID-licensed K208FB at 89.5 FM; the Twin Falls, ID-licensed K300AZ at 107.9 FM; The Arbai, LA-licensed K208FC at 89.5 FM; the Manistee, MI-licensed W218CY at 91.5 FM; the Maryville, MO-licensed K219KS at 91.7 FM; the Gulfport, MS-licensed W209CF at 89.7 FM; the Lewistown, MT-licensed K212FU at 90.3 FM; the Lovelock, NV-licensed K208EW at 89.5 FM; the Cochran, GA-licensed W222BF at 92.3 FM; and the Pocatello, ID-licensed K279CH at 103.7 FM.

CLOSINGS

Tucson, AZ – VCY America closes a $450,000 deal to buy contemporary Christian KTUK (88.5) from Family Life Broadcasting. VCY America, headed by Jim Schneider, currently owns 25 full power radio stations, along with 15 FM translators, but KTUK is its first signal in Arizona. Family Life Broadcasting still owns contemporary Christian “Family Life Radio” stations KFLT-FM (104.1) and KFLT (830) in the Tucson market. Broker: Kalil

Lubbock, TX – Enrique Garza’s Christian Ministries of the Valley closes a $300,000 deal to buy country “Red Dirt Rebel 105.3” KJDL-FM from Walker Broadcasting. The deal includes a $100,000 promissory note. David Walker will still own classic hits “105.7 King FM” KRBL in the Lubbock market. Broker: Jason James, Patrick Communications

Alabama –Fabiola and Arik Lev file a $5,000 deal to buy the currently-silent WIRB (1490) from Virgle Leon Strickland. The Dothan, AL market station most recently aired a gospel format.

Tennessee – John and Jane Sines close a deal to donate religious “1540 The Light” WBIN, Benton, TN to Pioneer Health and Missions.

U.S. Virgin Islands – Gospel Media Institute closes a deal to donate contemporary Christian WIVH, Christiansted, VI (89.9) to Good News For Life. The deal also includes the Charlotte Amalie, VI-licensed translator W224BD at 92.7 FM. It becomes the first signals in the U.S. Virgin Islands for Good News For Life. It already owns contemporary Christian “Good News 88” WRGN (88.1) in the Wilkes Barre-Scranton, PA market as well as six FM translators in Pennsylvania.
