Multistate Deal – Clark Parrish’s Edgewater Broadcasting files to donate all of its remaining FM translators to fellow religious broadcaster Radio By Grace. The filing with the FCC says “Edgewater has determined that it is in its best interest to cease doing business and transfer all of its assets to RGB” which the filing says “desires to continue the non-profit based operations of Edgewater.” The full-power FMs being donated include Pittsburgh market WLOG (89.1); Columbus, GA market WJEP (91.1), plus three FMs outside of rated markets including WTSE, Benton, TN (91.1); WHHR, Vienna, GA (92.1); and WZXX, Lawrenceburg, TN (88.5). All five of the FMs carry the religious “Freedom Radio FM” format. The donation also includes 121 FM translators. Read the list HERE. Radio By Grace was created in 2008 by the Grace Church of Amarillo, TX and is led by church pastor Bill Gehm. It currently owns religious KRBG (88.7) and KBZD (99.7) in its home market. It also owns several FM translators in Texas and New Mexico.
Birmingham, AL – The Communications & Educational Development Initiative files to donate WKDG (1540) to Save Our Daughterz. WKDG went silent in Sept. 2017 after it was unable to secure a rental or purchase agreement for the property where its tower was located. The station then returned to the air in August using a long wire antenna while a new tower is being completed. It is however operating at 200-watts (day) rather than the licensed 1,000-watts day and 3-watts night. Save Our Daughterz is a Birmingham not-for-profit that focuses on mentoring young women of color. The organization says it will use WKDG for outreach to its target audience of young women of color.
