Missouri – Dockins Broadcast Group has filed a $415,000 deal to buy country “C-106.1” KWKZ-FM, Charleston, MO from Anderson Broadcasting. Fred Dockins already owns several stations in the region.
Detroit – Townsquare Media is selling its standalone AM in market No. 14 to religious operator Smile FM. It will pay $172,500 to buy the currently silent WLCO (1530). The station previously aired a country format. Smile FM currently airs its contemporary Christian format on 26 stations throughout Michigan including on WSMF (88.1), WDTE (88.3), WDTR (88.9), and WVMV (91.5) in the Detroit metro area. Once the sale closes, Townsquare will still own clusters in three Michigan markets: Grand Rapids, Flint, and Kalamazoo.
Virginia – Ladybug Radio files a $60,000 deal to buy WZQY, Glade Spring, VA (100.5) from David Blair. Ladybug Radio is owned by three sisters – Candace Bacon, Christina Ogle, and Rebecca Bouldin – each with a one-third interest in the corporation. They are the adult daughters of Roger Bouldin, whose wife Lisa Nininger Bouldin owns Bristol Broadcasting Company which owns 31 stations including five in the area where WZQY operates.
Michigan & Wyoming – Jerry Edwards files to donate two clusters to Bobby Lee Edward’s Radio Central. In the Alpena, MI area the transfer includes classic rock “Thunder 100.7” WWTH, classic hits “The Wave 99.9” WHAK-FM, hot AC “107.7 The Bay” WHSB, classic rock “I-92” WIDL, and classic country WKYO (1360). And in the Lander-Riverton, WY area it donates “Country Legends 101.7” KDNO, hot AC “99.1 The Heat” KWYW, rock “Wind River`s Rock 93.1” KFCW, country KTAK (93.9), and talk KVOW (1450). It also donates the Riverton, WY-licensed translator K281BF at 104.1 FM which simulcast KTAK. And the Lander, WY-licensed translator K237CP at 95.3 FM which simulcasts KFCW. Radio Central will operate the stations under a time brokerage agreement until closing.
Texas – Houston Christian Broadcasters files a $35,000 deal to buy two FM translators from Educational Radio Foundation of East Texas. The deal includes the Nacogdoches, TX-licensed translator K247BG at 97.3 FM. And the Lufkin, TX-licensed K240EO at 95.9 FM. Educational Radio Foundation of East Texas owns seven full-power stations in Texas.
Panama City, FL – Faith Radio Network has closed a $100,000 deal to buy the currently-silent WPCF (1290) from Evolution Broadcasting. The deal also includes the Panama City, FL-licensed translator W226CJ at 93.1 FM. Faith Radio Network owns four other stations in Florida.
Texas – Andrews Broadcasting Company has closed an $80,000 deal to buy country KACT-FM (105.5) and “News Talk 1360” KACT in Andrews, TX from Zia Broadcasting. KACT-FM and KACT are the only two radio stations licensed to Andrews County, TX north of the Midland-Odessa, TX market.
Oklahoma – James Boles Jr. has closed a one-dollar deal to buy hot AC “KQ-106” KQTZ, Hobart, OK and classic country “The Legend” KWHW-FM/KWHW, Altus, OK (93.5/1450) from Monarch Broadcasting. The deal also includes the Altus, OK-licensed translator K245CY at 96.9 FM.
