New York – iHeartMedia has filed an $8.5 million deal to buy ethnic WWRL (1600) from NJ Broadcasting. The deal also includes a construction permit for the Edison, NJ-licensed translator W280GA at 103.9 FM. WWRL will begin airing iHeart’s Black Information Network under a $60,000-per month local marketing agreement set to begin Nov. 2. The contract shows iHeart will hold back up to $275,000 from the purchase price until NJ Broadcasting completes repair, replacement and compliance work on the station. The deal will turns a profit for NJ Broadcasting which bought WWRL for $7 million four years ago. iHeartMedia already owns AC “106.7 Lite FM” WLTW, CHR “Z-100” WHTZ, urban “Power 105.1” WWPR-FM, classic rock “Q-104.3” WAXQ, hot AC WKTU (103.5), and news-talk WOR (710) in the New York market.

Minnesota – Steve and Laura White’s Next Step Broadcasting has filed a $716,171 deal to buy “Hot Country 94.3” KDOM-FM and classic country KDOM (1580) in Windom, MN from Doyle and Carolyn Becker’s Riverfront Broadcasting. The deal also includes the Windom, MN-licensed translator K276GN at 103.1 FM.

Monterey-Salinas-Santa Cruz, CA – El Sembrador Ministries has filed a $335,000 deal to buy religious KKMC (880) from Carl Auel. El Sembrador Ministries already owns Spanish religious KRXA (540) in the market and it leases KMBX (700) from Entravision Communications. Broker: Sandi Bergman

Eau Claire, WI – The Family Radio Network expands its Wisconsin holdings with a $280,300 deal to buy adult alternative “Converge Radio 99.9” WDRK from BluGold Radio. The Family Radio Network already owns contemporary Christian stations in the Green Bay, Appleton-Oshkosh, and Wausau-Stevens Point markets.

Ohio – Soaring Eagle Promotions has filed a $190,000 deal to buy contemporary Christian “Total Praise” WVMC-FM, Mansfield, OH (90.7) from Mansfield Christian School. The deal also includes the Ashland, OH-licensed translator W216AH at 91.1FM. And the Jefferson, OH-licensed translator W274AN at 102.7 FM. Soaring Eagle Promotions already owns contemporary Christian “Shine FM” stations WSOH, Zanesfield, OH (88.9) and WKEN, Kenton, OH (88.5).

Illinois – Pure Word Communications has filed an $185,010 deal to buy contemporary Christian “The Vine 90.9” WVYN, Bluford, IL from Real Life Radio Foundation. The deal also includes the Centralia, IL-licensed translator W288CO at 105.5 FM. Pure Word Communications will operate WVYN under a time brokerage agreement until closing.

Tyler-Longview, TX – Leonard Oswald’s La Promesa Foundation has filed a $125,000 deal to by gospel KEES (1430) from Darrell Martin’s Salt of the Earth Broadcasting. The deal also includes the Longview, TX-licensed translator K243CU at 96.5 FM. Once the sale closes, Martin will still own “The Light 1330” KGLD in the Tyler-Longview market. Broker: John Saunders

New Mexico – Top O’ Texas Educational Broadcasting Foundation has filed a $12,000 deal to buy Spanish religious “Radio Vida” KPCV, Portales, NM (91.7) from Christian Ministries of the Valley. KPCV becomes Top O’ Texas Educational Broadcasting Foundation’s first radio station in New Mexico. It will put its religious “Kingdom Keys Network” on the station.

Vermont – Vermont Public Radio and Vermont PBS have filed a deal to merge their public radio and television operations into a single entity to be known as Vermont Public. Vermont Public Radio brings 15 full-power stations and 15 FM translators to the deal. Vermont PBS operates four full-power television stations and two TV translators which have substantial overlap. The two entities told the FCC they believe that they “will be better positioned to ensure that the Vermont community, in its entirety, and surrounding regions, are served into the future by a robust public media organization.” No cash is changing hands. The vote to merge was unanimous and the new organization is anticipated to launch July 1, 2021, contingent upon regulatory approval from the FCC and IRS.


Louisville – Rebecca and Brent Schepman’s Social Butterfly Media has closed a $400,000 deal to buy classic rock “Radio 96.3” WJAA from Midland Media. Social Butterfly Media doesn’t own any other stations.

Florida Keys – Michael Stapleford’s Magnum Broadcasting has closed an $180,000 deal to buy the currently-silent WPIK, Summerland Key, FL (102.5) from Summerland Media. Magnum Broadcasting already owns hot AC “Party 105.7” WGAY in the Florida Keys.

Florida Keys – Joseph Nascone’s The Great Marathon Radio Company has closed a $35,000 deal to buy WGMX (94.3) and WFFG (1300) in Marathon, FL from Jonathan Smith and Karen Moses-Bowling’s Lincoln-Garrard Broadcasting. Both stations are currently off the air. The transfer is a partial reversal of an $850,000 purchase by Lincoln-Garrard of four stations in 2016. Kentucky-based Lincoln-Garrard ran into trouble however after Hurricane Irma struck the Florida Keys in 2018. Its Choice Radio Keys division filed for bankruptcy protection. The Great Marathon Company had been the largest debtor, owed $672,908 under a five-year promissory note.
