SALES – STATIONS
Colorado Springs, CO – Linsey Salazar’s Greeley Broadcasting files an $85,000 deal to buy regional Mexican “Tigre 1580” KFCS from Jacob Barker’s Gabrielle Broadcasting. Greeley Broadcasting already owns regional Mexican “Tiger 102.1/ 1450” KGRE-FM & AM in the Ft. Collins market and regional Mexican “Tigre 94.7” KRYE-FM in the Pueblo market. Gabrielle Broadcasting put KFCS into the hands of a receiver earlier this year. Per a court order Jim Mross has overseen the AM while a pending dispute between Gabrielle and Pilgrim Communications has been sorted out. Gabrielle Broadcasting purchased KFCS from Randy Hood’s Pilgrim Communications for $250,000 in 2016. The sale included a $225,000 promissory note.
Greenville-Spartanburg, SC – Bob Corlew’s New Mountains To Climb files a $70,000 deal to buy classic country WQUL (1510) from BJL Broadcasting. The deal also includes the Woodruff, SC-licensed translator W269DM at 101.7 FM.
Allentown-Bethlehem, PA – Connoisseur Media files to sell its last remaining station in market. No. 73 with a $50,000 deal to sell sports WBYN (1160) to Robert Lowe’s Twilight Broadcasting. Lowe has just closed a deal to buy talk WEEU (830) in the nearby Reading, PA market (see below). It also owns two stations in Oil City, PA: sports WKQW (1120) and AC WKQW-FM (96.3). Connoisseur Media previously spun its other stations in the Allentown-Bethlehem, PA market to Cumulus Media as part of a cash-free swap.
Dothan, AL – Michael Holdefield files a $17,500 deal to buy the 35% stake in classic country “Weevil 101” WVVL held by William Holderfield. In a separate deal Michael Holderfield files to buy the 25% stake held by Susan Holderfield Harrison for $12,500. The deals will give Michael Holdefield’s Boll Weevil Communications 100% ownership of the station.
Alabama – Andala Enterprises files to transfer “News Talk 1470” WNWF, Evergreen, AL to John Ralls’ Logic Educational Network in a cash-free donation. Andala Enterprises also owns adult standards “Legends 1140” WPNS in the Ft. Walton Beach-Destin, FL market.
SALES – TRANSALTORS
Columbus, OH – TJS Media files a deal to buy the Columbus, OH-licensed translator W225CS at 92.9 FM from Percy Squire. The contract values the translator at $30,000 however it deducts $26,278 owed to TJS Media by Squire, making the resulting purchase price at $3,723. The signal is used to simulcast gospel “1580 The Praise” WVKO.
Oklahoma – Great Plains Christian Radio files a $10,000 deal to buy the Enid, OK-licensed translator K202BY at 88.3 FM from Family Stations. The translator will carry Great Plains Christian Radio’s contemporary Christian format.
Utah – Red Rock Radio Group files to donate the Navajo Mountain, UT-licensed translator K256CA at 99.1 FM to Mountain Media. The signal relays classic hits “94.5 The Eagle” KLGL Salt Lake City.
Pennsylvania – Twilight Broadcasting closes an $88,500 deal to buy “The Voice” WEEU Reading (830) from Reading Eagle Co., which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in April. The newspaper company, which has owned the station since 1946, separately secured a deal to sell the paper to MediaNews Group. Twilight Broadcasting, which owns two stations in Oil City, PA – sports WKQW (1120) and AC WKQW-FM (96.3) – plans to continue WEEU’s combination of local and syndicated talk programming.
Wyoming – Vic Michael’s Cedar Cove Broadcasting closes a $50,000 deal to buy talk KKRR, Casper, WY (88.3) from Rule Communications. Bob Rule still owns country/oldies “101 K-Pine” KPIN, Pinedale, WY.
Oregon – Open Sky Radio closes a $35,000 deal to buy the currently-silent KDOA, The Dalles, OR (101.5) from Common Frequency. Open Sky Radio will operate KDOA as a noncommercial station. It also owns adult alternative “Jive Radio” KJIV (96.5) in Bend, OR.
