Cox Media Group Tampa is reshuffling its programming suite, with Rick Thomas out as Operations Manager of the cluster, as his contract expires. He also served as Director of Branding & Programming for CHR “Hot 101.5” WPOI, AC WDUV and hot AC “Magic 94.9” WWRM.
Thomas has been with Cox Tampa since 2017. He has also worked as PD of former CBS Radio CHR “92.3 Amp Radio” WBMP New York, and had gigs in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento and San Diego.
Joining Cox in the Tampa market is Will Calder, who segues from Director of Branding & Programming for CHR Orlando sister “Power 95.3” WPYO, who is now named PD of “Hot 101.5.” WPYO and alternative “97X” WSUN Tampa are to be spun off from the company in order to meet regulatory approval for the sale of its radio division to the investor group led by Apollo Global Management, as Inside Radio has previously reported.
In addition, Nathan Reed, current Director of Marketing and Radio Operations for Cox Tulsa, transfers to Tampa to program WWRM and WDUV.
