Postmaster General Megan Brennan proposed at a congressional hearing that such a schedule was one of the options the agency’s board of governors is examining as part of a plan to help stem annual losses. The schedule would devote one fewer day to its declining business of delivering letters while giving the agency no days off from the growing number of packages the Postal Service is handling for Amazon and others as more Americans shop online. Back in 2013, the Postal Service estimated it could save $2 billion annually by cutting mail delivery to five days and continuing to deliver packages on Saturday. Postal workers unions have also objected to reducing delivery days....
