The first sign of Christmas arrives as Cumulus Media launches “Christmas 104” on oldies WWIZ Youngstown-Warren. “The Valley’s Christmas Station” debuted at noon on Friday, Oct. 25 with Bing Crosby’s “White Christmas.” “Christmas 104” will play holiday favorites through the end of the year.
“With everything going on in the Mahoning Valley and in the world these days, we felt we could all use a little more Christmas right now,” VP/Market Manager Bill Kelly said in a release. “Playing Christmas music this early in the season will get our listeners in the Valley into the holiday spirit even more this year.”
WWIZ appears to be the first station to make the annual flip to all-holiday music… two months before Christmas Day.
As earlier reported by Inside Radio, consultant Gary Berkowitz recently gave some advice to programmers planning the Christmas flip, which will provide “monster ratings.”
