There will be more than radio beaming “from the top of the Empire State Building” tonight. At 8:55pm ET, CHR “Z100” WHTZ-FM New York will broadcast Coldplay’s collaboration with BTS, “My Universe,” synchronized to thousands of LED lights at the top of the famous tower choreographed by Marc Brickman and his Tactical Manouevre team. The latest music-to-light show tees up a 9pm iHeartMedia roadblock broadcast of an “iHeartRadio Album Release Party with Coldplay” on 150 hot AC, alternative and CHR stations nationwide, on the iHeartRadio app and on the CW app or on www.cwtv.com.
Coldplay’s “Music From The Spheres” album drops Friday.
The radio special – hosted by Booker, afternoon personality at modern rock “Alt 98.7” KYSR Los Angeles and Tanya Rad of “The Vibe with Tanya and EJ” on CHR KIIS Los Angeles (102.7) – comes the same day the band announced a 2022 “sustainable and low-carbon” tour that will bring “Music From The Spheres” to stadiums around the world.
Starting Oct. 25, iHeart launches a week-long national flyaway on all its hot AC, alternative and CHR stations offering fans the chance to win an exclusive trip to one of the U.S. tour dates. The band will personally call the winners to welcome them to the show, and once there winners will receive a VIP experience including premium seats, photos from the stage, autographed drum sticks from the set that night and other perks.
"We have been huge supporters of Coldplay since the beginning and to be able to help kick of their 2022 tour and their ninth album to music fans nationwide is exciting," said Tom Poleman, Chief Programming Officer for iHeartMedia. "Coldplay has headlined so many of our concert and festival lineups from the iHeartRadio Music Festival to our recently announced iHeartRadio ALTer Ego in 2022, and we are thrilled to be a cornerstone in launching their new album ‘Music Of The Spheres’ with an iHeartRadio Album Release Party."
