A veteran Arizona sportscaster teamed with a three-time Super Bowl champion is the nucleus for a new morning radio show in Phoenix. “Bruce Jacobs & Helly” debuts Monday, Sept. 23 on CRC Broadcasting Co. sports “The Fanatic” KQFN (1580). Jacobs is a longtime sports personality; Helly is former Dallas Cowboys lineman Dale Hellestrae.
The station also airs on the Phoenix-licensed translator K257CD at 99.3 and Tempe-licensed K240EU at 95.9FM in the East Valley area.
Jacobs spent the better part of the last two decades hosting shows in the market on iHeartMedia “Fox Sports 910” KGME and sister “NewsTalk 550 “ KFYI and nationally for Fox Sports Radio. Hellestrae won three Super Bowls as an NFL long snapper during a 17-year career before transitioning into sports media. He recently co-hosted a local radio show and was a color analyst for the Indoor Football League’s Arizona Rattlers.
“With Bruce and Dale on board, we’re really looking forward to increasing our growth and popularity in the coming weeks and months,” said Ron Cohen, President and CEO, CRC Broadcasting.
Even before they crack the mic together for the first time, their press release comments offer a peek into the pair’s repartee. Says Jacobs: “I was partners with a starting defensive lineman, I was partners with an All-Pro offensive lineman, and now I’m stuck with a guy who’s had his ass touched more by Troy Aikman than his own wife.”
Adds Hellestrae: “I’ve had some great highs in my life – three Super Bowls, two beautiful daughters, and a gorgeous wife. But never did I think I’d reach the low of having to partner with Bruce Jacobs.”
