A bullet and a pierced window at the iHeartMedia Washington, DC offices are at the center of an investigation of a pair of incidents ultimately resulting in damage to three windows at the building located in Rockville, MD. The bullet, which was found at the location, has been sent to a laboratory for forensic analysis. This is the home base for iHeart’s AC WASH (97.1), CHR “Hot 99.5” WIHT, country WMZQ-FM (98.7), classic rock “Big 100.3” WBIG-FM and modern rock “DC 101” WWDC.
On Friday, July 12, Rockville police responded to a call from station management regarding a bullet found near a window that had a hole in it. No one at the property heard shots being fired, Montgomery Community Media reports. An earlier incident of a hole in another window at the building reported on July 8 is also being investigated to see if the two are connected. The first reported incident was thought to be vandalism.
In all, three windows at the building have now been damaged, Sgt. Bill Nieberding, spokesman for the Rockville Police Department said. The incidents on July 8 and July 12 are in two separate windows in the upper floors of the building. Nieberding did not provide information on the damage to the third window or its location.
Employees at the stations have been told to stay away from windows of the building as an investigation into the incident transpires.
