For anyone who thinks most sports talk hosts take their subject matter way too seriously, there’s a new iHeartPodcast Network show built for them. The show is called “The Greatest” and it pairs comedians Megan Gailey and C.J. Toledano who, when they’re not recording a podcast or writing comedy, are living life as real-world newlyweds.
“If you enjoy us bickering, or shall I say engaging in healthy debate over who the greatest in sports history is, my wife and hilarious comedian Megan Gailey and I have great news for you,” said Toledano in the show’s preview.
“That’s right,” Gailey continued. “We’re inviting our celebrity and comedian friends to discuss who we think the GOATs are in every aspect of sports history – it’s kind of like ‘Pardon The Interruption’ but if after every show [Mike] Wilbon and [Tony] Kornheiser had to raise a family together.”
On the inaugural episode of “The Greatest,” Gailey and Toledano—who were married last month—are joined by fellow comedian Anthony Jeselnik to discuss, among other things, the greatest sports beefs of all time – from Reggie Miller and Spike Lee to Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding.
It is the second podcast for Gaily, who is also a co-host of Crooked Media's political comedy “Hysteria” podcast. Gailey is a stand-up comedian and writer who has performed on “The Conan O’Brien Show” and has a half-hour special on Comedy Central. She’s also shown her passion for sports as a writer for the 2017 and 2018 ESPY Awards and she served as the host of the NFL’s live Twitter show called “The Checkdown.”
Toledano is a writer, comedian and director for the popular sports company “House of Highlights.” He’s written for “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” and once opened for comedians including Bo Burnham and Joel McHale. He has also produced comedy sports sketches for the Detroit Pistons, NFL’s “The Checkdown,” Bleacher Report, and House of Highlights.
