After recently adding a pair of major market affiliates – Beasley’s “98.5 The Sports Hub” WBZ-FM Boston and Radio One’s “The Team 980” WTEM Washington – Fox Sports Radio reports that some of its weekly shows are showing significant audience gains. Chief among them is “Outkick the Coverage with Clay Travis” (6-9am Eastern) which saw a 51% year-over-year lift in adults 25-54 and 46% with men 25-54 in PPM markets in the spring 2019 survey (March 28-June 19), compared to Spring 2018.
Meanwhile, two new shows are also showing audience growth. Since its first month on the air in October 2018, “The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard & Rob Parker” (7-10pm Eastern) has seen its audience rise 15% as of June 2019 with both adults 25-54 and men 25-54 in PPM markets, Premiere Networks says, citing Nielsen AQH data for the exact times the show aired. “Straight Outta Vegas with RJ Bell” (6-7pm Eastern), which also launched in October 2018, nearly tripled its audience by June 2019 in both demos in PPM markets.
Beyond national ratings, the sports network also singled out a pair of its shows on iHeartMedia “AM 570 LA Sports” KLAC Los Angeles. The audience for “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” (noon-3pm Eastern) on its KLAC flagship, increased 41% year-over-year with adults 25-54 and 46% with men 25-54 in June 2019. Over the same period on KLAC, “The Dan Patrick Show” (9am-noon Eastern) posted a 58% increase with adults 25-54 and 71% men 25-54.
On the digital front, Fox Sports Radio’s podcasts surpassed the 10 million milestone for total monthly podcast listens in the month of July – a 15% increase from the previous month, the network says, citing July 2019 data from Megaphone. In addition, FSR’s streaming audience grew 8% year-over-year in June, with monthly cume growing 11% from May to June. Monthly page views for the network’s website reached an all-time record in June, while July delivered the third best month in FSR history with 80% year-to-year growth.
