Garry Meier is launching his subscription-based podcasting venture with a major get. The Chicago radio vet has lined up Howard Stern for a two-part interview to be uploaded March 16 and 18.
Meier’s podcast launched Saturday March 12. At first, episodes will be free, with new entries available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of each week. To lure paying customers, Meier will make 1-2 additional shows available per week for a monthly subscription along with a couple of additional interviews per month and occasional videos. The podcasts will be available at garrymeier.com, and on iTunes, TuneIn and Stitcher. An app is in development.
“Howard and I came through the radio ranks during the same era and experienced a lot of the same things,” Meier said on his website of the conversation with Stern. “While he is the King of All Media, I am more the jester of said media.”
Meier was last heard hosting a streaming afternoon drive show for wgn.fm, a brand extension of Tribune talker “Radio 720” WGN. He’s best known for his long stint with Chicago icon Steve Dahl.
