In its second donation this month, iHeartMedia has filed with the FCC to transfer WZZW Huntington-Ashland, WV (1600) from the Aloha Station Trust to Tom and Desire Hoyt’s Pure Media Ministries. WZZW currently simulcasts “News Radio 800” WVHU. One week ago, the company filed to donate 80s Hits KABQ Albuquerque, NM (104.7) to the religious broadcaster Delmarva Educational Association.
The Barry Drake-managed Aloha Station Trust was created in July 2008 to oversee the required spin-offs related to the buyout of what was then Clear Channel by Bain Capital and Thomas H. Lee Partners.
In addition to WVHU, iHeart also owns classic rock “106.3 The Brew” WAMX, classic hits “B-97.1” WBVB, CHR “Kee-100” WKEE-FM, country WTCR-FM (103.3), and “Fox Sports 1420” WZWB in the Huntington-Ashland market.
Pure Radio Ministries currently owns a Louisville, KY market FM translator.
Once the spin of WZZW is completed, the trust will still own “Fox Sports 1230” WIRO in the Huntington-Ashland market and two FMs in the Dayton, OH market.
