The iHeartPodcast Network has cooked up a new podcast that seems tailor-made for people whose Instagram accounts feature more photos of food than faces. Food 360 with Marc Murphy is a new podcast hosted by the chef and restaurateur. Murphy says the podcast will take an “all-encompassing look” at the world of food “bringing history, science, and culture to the table.”
But this show won’t be all about truffles and foie gras. Instead, Murphy, who is probably best known for his work as a regular judge on the Food Network’s “Chopped” and “Chopped Junior,” will bring fellow chefs, food writers and food historians in front of the microphone to shed light on even the most familiar culinary items such as pizza, breakfast foods and ice cream.
“I’ve been cooking over 30 years. I’ve worked in and owned a number of restaurants. But my experience as a judge on Food Network’s ‘Chopped’ for the past 10 years has really piqued my curiosity in the food culture,” Murphy says. “I believe there’s a story behind every meal, a story behind every person who makes it, a story behind each ingredient used and I want to know everything I can about it.”
Among the guests Murphy has lined up for the first season of Food 360 are “Top Chef” judge Gail Simmons, “Best Baker in America” host Scott Conant, New York Times food columnist Melissa Clark, and Illy master coffer barista Giorgio Milos.
