iHeartMedia has named Don Parker General Manager for its Pride Radio, branded as “The Pulse of LGBTQ America.” As GM, Parker will oversee day-to-day programming, marketing, sales and operations of Pride Radio and help expand the brand’s reach and business development to the LGBTQ community on the iHeartRadio app and HD2 stations. He will also maintain the role of Regional Senior VP of Programming for iHeartMedia’s Northern California Region.

iHeartMedia will soon conduct a national search for a program director for Pride Radio, reporting to Parker.

The media veteran has held several positions at iHeartMedia. Before his current positions as regional Senior VP of Programming and GM for Pride, Parker was Senior VP of Programming for iHeartMedia San Francisco, VP of Programming for NextMedia Group, Program Director for the former KCMG Los Angeles and PD of KTBZ Houston. He began his career at KBOS in Fresno, CA.

“Pride Radio has grown significantly over the years and has the ability to reach both a local and national targeted audience across multiple markets through its audio, digital, social and live event assets,” Parker said in a release. “I’m excited to be expanding my role with this engaging initiative that supports equality and inclusivity, and bringing on a dedicated program director to help lead the brand and its impact this platform has on the LBGTQ community to new levels.”

iHeartRadio’s Pride Radio is aimed at the LGBTQ community “and its allies around the nation.” It is available on the iHeartRadio app and via 18 HD2 stations. The network is hosted by seven LGBTQ personalities and features its signature LGBTQ Audio Vignette series with such artists as the Chainsmokers, Ariana Grande, Sam Smith, Lizzo and Backstreet Boys.

The markets where Pride Radio airs on HD Radio HD2 outlets: New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Washington, Miami, Atlanta, San Diego, Hartford, Pittsburgh, Orlando, Philadelphia, Austin, Portland, St. Louis, Phoenix and Minneapolis.

As previously reported by Inside Radio, iHeartRadio is celebrating June’s Pride Month with themed playlists, live stations and podcasts from the LGBTQ community. The platform is offering a “Pride” section across its radio, playlist and podcast tabs to access pride-inspired content, with Pride Radio Flashbacks and iHeartRadio Broadway stations, as well as such local HD Radio stations as Pride Radio Philly and Pride Radio Orlando. On the podcast front, more than 20 Pride podcasts are featured, including the original “iHeartRadio Pride Conversations.”
