Following up on Tuesday’s launch of a new operational structure, iHeartMedia today provided more background info about the nine senior executives that were named Division Presidents of the company’s new Markets Group organization. These executives – Shosh Abromovich, Linda Byrd, Tony Coles, Julie Donohue, Nick Gnau, Scott Hopeck, Dan Lankford, Kevin LeGrett and Tom McConnell – will report into Greg Ashlock, President of the Markets Group.

As the company announced yesterday, it will now group markets by common needs and characteristics into three distinctly different divisions – Region, Metro and Community – to make sharing of resources and experiences easier and more targeted.

“It’s an exciting time at iHeart as we launch our new Markets Group structure to capitalize on our unparalleled reach and groundbreaking technology to create one-of-a-kind platforms and services for our employees, partners and listeners,” Ashlock said in a release Wednesday. “Our nine Division Presidents bring a complementary portfolio of knowledge, leadership and diverse functional expertise that will position us well as we continue to transform and modernize as the leader in the audio space.”

In addition, the company’s Integrated Revenue Strategies group, led by President Hartley Adkins, will be merged into the iHeartMedia Markets Group and Adkins will become Chief Operating Officer of the Markets Group working with Ashlock.

The Region Division, led by LeGrett and Hopeck, includes the company’s largest markets, like New York and Los Angeles. A 20+ year media veteran, LeGrett previously was Division President and Executive VP of Operations for the Markets Group, overseeing Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Diego, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin and Washington, D.C. He joined iHeart in 2010 as Market Manager of its Rochester, NY cluster.

As a Division President Hopeck most recently oversaw the company’s New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia and San Francisco/Sacramento Regions. He is a 20-year media vet with extensive experience in digital and sports marketing. He earlier was Region President of iHeartMedia New York.

The Metro Division, led by McConnell, Byrd and Coles, includes markets that are still large but not the size of the Region markets.

As a Division President, McConnell most recently had responsibility for the P&L of more than 200 stations across the Northeastern U.S. in regions including Boston, Detroit, Hartford, North and South Ohio, and Pittsburgh. During his 20+ years in the media and entertainment industry, McConnell has overseen more than 75 media markets of all sizes and scope and held senior leadership positions across sales, programming and operational divisions.

Coles earlier was an Executive VP of Programming for iHeart, working closely with the Division Presidents. A 25-year radio vet, Coles has worked in on-air, programming and management positions and previously was Senior VP of Programming for the West Region. His background also includes serving in a dual role as VP of Programming for iHeartMedia Chicago and National Hot AC Brand Manager.

As a Division President, Byrd was looking after markets in North Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia. Since joining iHeart in 1982, Byrd has worked as President of its Central/North Florida region, while overseeing operations in Orlando. A 40-year media veteran, she was also the first woman to serve as Chairman of the Florida Association of Broadcasters.

The Community Division, led by Abromovich, Gnau and Lankford, includes markets that are smaller and tend to focus on the needs of one community and one common geographic area for advertisers. It also groups markets into areas which are geographically close and culturally similar.

Abromovich has spent over a decade with iHeartMedia, most recently as Market President for the company’s seven-station Toledo cluster. Before that she held Digital Sales Manager, Local Sales Manager and General Sales Manager positions for iHeart Detroit, where she began her career as an Account Executive.

Gnau most recently was President of the company’s Philadelphia Region. During 25 years with the company, Gnau has worked as a Market Manager and President in Detroit, Grand Rapids, Marion, Chillicothe, Lima, Toledo, Dayton and Muskegon.

Lankford previously served as Region President of the company’s Allentown-Harrisburg Region, where he was responsible for eight markets encompassing 37 radio stations throughout Pennsylvania and the Delmarva Peninsula. He brings more than 35 years of experience in broadcasting, digital, sales and content creation to his role. Lankford joined the company in 1999.

The Multi-Market Partnerships Division, led by Donohue, allows sales teams, regardless of market size and location, to access all of the company’s assets. Before being named President of the division, Donohue spent four years as the Senior VP of Multi-Market Partnerships, where she oversaw enterprise business development for the Markets Group. Donohue previously led integrated marketing efforts for iHeartMedia’s Chicago market for 13 years.
