iHeartMedia names Rob Miller senior VP of programming for the South Florida region and executive VP of hot AC programming and strategy for the company’s National Programming Group. Miller transfers to Miami from the PD post at rhythmic AC WKTU New York (103.5). Miller succeeds Alex Tear in the senior VP role, with Tear likely to stay within the company in another role.
“I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with Rob for the past 10 years on ‘939 MIA’ [rhythmic AC WMIA-FM],” division and region president Brian Olson said in a release. “He’s one of the most dedicated and hardworking individuals in our industry and I’m excited for Rob to lead our teams across South Florida.”
In his new role as senior VP of programming, Miller will oversee the day-to-day operations for the company’s Miami-Fort Lauderdale market, while working with programmers and talent in West Palm Beach, Fort Pierce, Fort Myers, Naples and Punta Gorda. As executive VP of hot AC programming, he will work alongside stations throughout the country.
“South Florida has always held a special place in my heart and Miami has been like a second home to me,” Miller said. “I love the energy, diversity and pride of the city and I’m excited to lead our legendary brands and collaborate with our marquee personalities. Thank you iHeartMedia – what an amazing way to celebrate my third decade in radio.”
