Chris Mullin

Cumulus Media sports KNBR San Francisco (680), now with its expanded Bay Area coverage via the addition of KNBR-FM at 104.5, also expands its NBA coverage, recruiting former Golder State Warriors forward Chris Mullin as an on-air contributor for the 2019-2020 basketball season.

Mullin spent 13 of his 16-year NBA career as a member of the Golden State Warriors. He is a five-time NBA All-Star and a member of both the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. Mullin won a gold medal with the “Dream Team” at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics Games and picked up an earlier gold medal in the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles while still in college. His post-NBA career includes serving as a special advisor for the Sacramento Kings and General Manager for the Warriors. He was also Head Coach of the men’s basketball team at St. John’s University, his alma mater, from 2015-2019.

“Chris brings a unique perspective to both our Warriors coverage and overall NBA coverage, given his great success as a player, coach and executive,” Program Director Jeremiah Crowe said in a release. “The addition of Chris further strengthens KNBR’s NBA contributor lineup as the strongest in radio across Northern California.”

Adding a marquee name like Mullin to the station helps bolster its association with the team, whose games air on crosstown sports competitor Entercom’s “95.7 The Game” KGMZ. Mullin was recently named analyst for the Warriors pregame and postgame shows on TV for all regular season home games.

“I’m looking forward to sharing insight and opinions throughout the upcoming Warriors season on KNBR,” Mullin added. “It’s very exciting to be able to talk basketball every week with my good friends Tom Tolbert and Greg Papa.”

Mullin’s segment “The Chris Mullin Show,” will run twice a week in middays during Papa’s show and afternoons with former Warrior forward Tolbert throughout the NBA season. Tolbert also serves as color analyst for the radio broadcasts on KGMZ, while Papa hosts the team’s pregame and postgame shows on TV.

Additional NBA and Warriors-centric programming heard on KNBR includes: “Dubs Countdown to Tipoff Pregame Show” with Tolbert, Larry Krueger, Rod Brooks, Mark Willard and Adam Copeland. The pregame show airs 40 minutes before each Warriors game; “The Steve Kerr Show,” featuring the Warriors head coach, can be heard Tuesdays during the 2019-2020 season; “The Marcus Thompson Show” features the lead columnist of The Athletic Bay Area. The segment airs four times a week in mornings, middays and afternoons; and “Dubs Daily” can be heard weekdays at 8:50am during the Warriors season on the “Murph & Mac” show.
