Les Hollander is elevated to CEO, North America at digital audio advertising platform DAX. The industry veteran joined the company in March 2020 as Chief Growth Officer for the U.S. and Canada. The appointment brings the DAX divisions in both countries under Hollander’s oversight.
Hollander succeeds Matt Cutair, who will take a key advisory role with the company. Cutair had led DAX U.S. since its launch in 2017 following Global’s acquisition of AudioHQ, the digital ad rep firm which he co-founded and led as CEO.
“Bringing together our U.S. and Canadian operations together today under Les’ leadership is a landmark moment for DAX,” Chief Commercial Officer Mike Gordon said in a release. “Les’ experience in digital audio and broadcasting has proved a huge asset to our team since he joined DAX last year. Matt will continue to play a key role in the leadership of our DAX U.S. business, and we look forward to his continued support and expertise.”
Since joining the company, Hollander re-aligned the U.S. and Canada markets, while DAX added multiple brand advertisers and publishers, including NPR, Wondery and Sounder to its roster of digital audio publishers in North America, which also includes SoundCloud, TuneIn, AccuRadio and Audiomack. In his new role, Hollander continues to report to Guy Jones, Product, Data and Digital Director for DAX based at Global in the UK.
“I’m incredibly excited to take on this new role and to continue working with our talented team to drive forward the success of DAX in North America,” Hollander remarked. “In the past year, despite major disruption to the industry, we have collaborated with our colleagues in the UK to demonstrate innovation in streaming, podcasting and voice activation as well as signing some fantastic new partners. At a time when audio is thriving and we’re seeing a huge shift in consumer habits; I’m looking forward to this opportunity and the next stage of DAX’s growth.”
Hollander joined DAX from Spotify where he was Global Head of Audio Monetization. He was hired by the streaming audio service in 2013 as Senior Director of Audio Sales for Spotify U.S. Prior to Spotify, Hollander was VP of Digital Sales at Gannett and VP of Sales/Director, Eastern Region Radio Sales, at Pandora. From 2004-2008, he was Senior VP/Regional Manager at CBS Radio after seven years in sales positions at Clear Channel.
