Matty in Morning 375

It’s “Matty in the Morning Day” in Boston as Matty Siegel celebrates 40 years hosting AM Drive on iHeartMedia CHR “Kiss 108” WXKS-FM. The veteran on-air personality was recognized with a proclamation from the mayor of Boston and a citation in recognition of the monumental anniversary from the governor of Massachusetts.

“Kiss 108” began the celebration Tuesday morning (Jan. 12) by airing 40 hours of highlights from Siegel’s career, along with well wishes from celebrities, musicians and athletes including Gwen Stefani, Billie Eilish, Selena Gomez, Joe McIntyre, David Ortiz and Ryan Seacrest.

“Matty is a Boston institution. If you’ve spent any time in Boston, you know how big ‘Matty in the Morning' is,” iHeartMedia Chief Programming Officer and President Tom Poleman said in a release. “Forty years working in this industry is an impressive accomplishment, but 40 years hosting a top-rated morning show for one station is truly special.”

Siegel’s celebrated career boasts Marconi Award wins in 2001 and 2009 for Personality of the Year – Major Market, a 2012 Massachusetts Broadcast Hall of Fame induction and a Radio Hall of Fame nomination. “Matty in the Morning” consistently ranks No.1 among women 18-49 in Boston.

Market President Alan Chartrand says Siegel, “is an amazing talent who consistently performs at the highest level. He is so competitive that he strives to win every day he’s on the air, and the proof is in his dominating ratings for the past four decades. All of us here at iHeartMedia Boston congratulate him on this huge milestone of being on the air at Kiss 108 for 40 years – it is truly a remarkable accomplishment.”

Some of the well-wishes, TV coverage and photos to mark the celebration are being gathered and posted on the “Kiss 108” website.

“Any conversation about Boston radio starts with Matty Siegel,” Dylan Sprague, Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia Boston remarked. “He’s perfectly in tune with Boston and has found a way to continually evolve the show and capture the next generation of listeners year after year – all without changing who he is. That’s why he’s number one. Congratulations Matty on 40 years at Kiss 108.”

“In my wildest dreams, I never thought I would see this day,” Siegel added. “I am forever grateful to my wonderful radio team, the great company I work for and the terrific people of Boston.”
