Great Lakes Media adds some well-known names to its leadership team, with Mitch Dolan coming aboard as Chief Operating Officer and Ed Nolan tapped as Chief Financial Officer.

Dolan is well regarded for his role at the former ABC Radio, where he served as President of the ABC Radio Station Group and President/GM of WPLJ New York. He most recently served as COO of Radio & Outdoor at Times-Shamrock Communications. Nolan was Senior VP, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for 13 of his 27 years with the former Greater Media.

“I’m pleased to welcome two experienced and exceptional leaders to Great Lakes Media,” CEO Tom Langmyer said in a release. “Mitch is highly respected in the media industry and, whether in New York City, where he operated stations directly, or in the ABC major markets he led across the U.S., his outstanding track record of achievement was defined by his ability to consistently outperform the companies and stations with whom he competed. Ed’s distinguished career is highlighted by his oversight and successful execution of a number of complex M&A transactions while serving on the senior leadership team of one of America’s finest and most-admired media companies. He’s well-known and respected in our industry as a leader. Ed’s depth of knowledge and experience in the media space is beyond impressive.”

Great Lakes Media was founded by Langmeyer after the demise of the E.W. Scripps radio division, where he served as Market Manager for its Milwaukee cluster and VP of news/talk/sports. Before that he was the GM of WGN Chicago for the better part of a decade.

“Throughout my career I’ve had the special privilege of being part of extraordinary companies where the only thing as highly valued as performance were the people who achieved it. I got to know Tom when he was the GM of WGN and ABC’s toughest competitor in Chicago,” Dolan remarked. “Although I tried repeatedly and unsuccessfully to hire him to run WLS, we developed a true friendship based on the shared belief that amazing people get amazing results. Obviously, working with Tom has been a goal of mine for many years and I’m thrilled that he finally agreed.”

Nolan added, “I look forward partnering with Tom, Mitch and the team to acquire and grow local radio stations and digital platforms. We’re committed to creating an organization that super-serves its local communities, delivers outstanding results for our advertising partners and fosters a workplace culture that makes Great Lakes Media a career destination.”

“As CEO, I believe that GLM’s success is reliant upon two things. The first, our ability to meaningfully connect our local audio content to our communities, at all times, on all devices and secondly, through a strategic combination of our broadcast and digital audiences and services… to achieve amazing outcomes for our advertising partners,” Langmyer continued. “Mitch and Ed are passionately committed to these beliefs and the importance of building an engaging, creative and positive workplace culture. This makes them terrific additions to the Great Lakes team. Also, their last names rhyme, which is a total bonus.”
