KXKS

Eddy Aragon’s Rock of Talk LLC is expanding the size of its Albuquerque cluster as it takes over operations a Wilkins Communications station and launches a new sports outlet in the market. It replaces the religious programming on KXKS (1190) and the translator at K298BY at 107.5 FM. The new sports format will largely be filled with Fox Sports Radio programming, including Jay Mohr, Dan Patrick and Rich Eisen. The station will also be featured on the new ABQ.fm streaming app targeting Albuquerque listeners.

The market already has four other sports stations including Cumulus Media’s “610 The Sports Animal” KNML, RAMH Corp.’s KDEF (1150), Team Broadcasting’s “ESPN Radio 101.7 FM - The Team” KQTM as well as Entravision’s Spanish-language sports “ESPN Deportes 1450” KRZY.

Rock of Talk also owns talk KIVA (1600) in Albuquerque. Wilkins’ religious programming remains on the air in the metro after it recently bought KKIM (1000) from American General Media for $587,500.
