Cumulus Media is launching new morning shows on news/talk KGO (810) and talk KSFO (560) San Francisco. The Sacramento-based syndicated “Armstrong & Getty Show” moves from KGO to KSFO and will be heard from 6-9am. At KGO, Nikki Medoro, most recently in afternoons with Chip Franklin, is paired with veteran news anchor Bret Burkhart for “The Morning Show with Nikki Medoro” (6-10am). The changes go into effect, Monday, March 2.
“Nikki Medoro is a compelling and proven talk show host. Her upbeat and engaging personality makes her the perfect fit to take over mornings on KGO,” VP/Market Manager Doug Harvill said in a release. “At the same time, Armstrong and Getty have established a very dedicated and loyal Bay Area audience that will follow them to sister station KSFO.”
Operations Manager Lee Hammer added, “Nikki and Bret will bring a fresh approach to the day’s news, both locally and nationally. They’ll also invite the Bay Area’s listeners to join the conversation and share their opinions… I’m also excited that Armstrong and Getty will be staying in our station family, just moving down the dial to KSFO. Joe and Jack are fantastic entertainers, super knowledgeable and they’re not afraid to share their opinions. They’ll be a great addition to the KSFO lineup.”
The addition of Medoro to mornings solidifies a local lineup at KGO, outside of the John Batchelor Show (9pm-12am). Last March the station added veteran talk show hosts Mark Thompson (10am-12pm), Pat Thurston (12-3pm) and John Rothman (6-9pm) to its lineup. Chip Franklin remains in afternoons (3-6pm).
KSFO morning man Brian Sussman, who had been on a medical leave of absence since October, announced his retirement in January. KSFO now sports a lineup of nationally-syndicated talk shows: “The Armstrong & Getty Show (6-9am); “The Rush Limbaugh Show” (9am-12pm); “The Michael Savage Show” (12-2pm); “The Ben Shapiro Show” (2-3pm); “The Mark Levin Show” (3-6pm); “The Dave Ramsey Show” (6-9pm); and “The Sean Hannity Show (9pm-12am).
