Childish Gambino is the latest addition to the iHeartRadio Festival. The artist/actor (real name Donald Glover) will perform Friday, Sept. 21, joining Justin Timberlake, Carrie Underwood and Fleetwood Mac for the two-day event (9/21-22) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
JVC Broadcasting Orlando is planning the “Not 5k Taco Run” on Sunday, Sept. 16. The .5k event will have participants “running, walking or crawling” along the course, while sampling tacos and beverages. The event is hosted by “103.1 The Wolf” WOTW’s morning show MurphDawg and Jenn and afternoon talents Chad and Skid. It is co-sponsored by rock sister “Bud 94.1,” which broadcasts on the Orlando, FL-licensed translator W231CT at 94.1.
Podcast platform Acast is celebrating its fourth anniversary with a milestone of 100 million monthly listens. “It's a big day at Acast as we announce that our content is now listened to over 100 million times a month,” the company posted on its blog. “We've also just passed 1.5 billion downloads of our content. That's equivalent to 100,000 years of podcasting.”
ESPN Radio will have the national over-the-air broadcast of MLB’s Home Run Derby competition, live from Nationals Park on July 16, a day ahead of the MLB All-Star game. Jon “Boog” Sciambi will call the action with analyst Chris Singleton. Marc Kestecher and analyst Tim Kurkjian will provide pre-event coverage. ESPN Deportes Radio will serve as the exclusive Spanish-language broadcast of the competition with Eduardo Ortega, Renato Bermudez, José Rivera and former MLB pitcher Orlando “El Duque” Hernández comprising the broadcast team.
The Country Radio Broadcasters, Inc. (CRB) is now accepting applications for a scholarship endowment, which will be awarded to one deserving college or university for the 2018-2019 school year. “CRB has a fabulous history of granting scholarships to students in our industry,” executive director Bill Mayne said. “We are continuing that tradition and have made plans to expand our scholarship program into other areas that we are very proud of.” Eligibility requirements and a form for applying can be found on the CRS website.
