...Cox Media Group news/talk KRMG-AM/FM Tulsa (740/102.3), along with the company’s KOKI-TV, are the official media partners of the annual Light The Night Walk to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Several CMG employees will participate in the event, which takes place Friday night (Nov. 8) and will honor longtime co-worker Will Harris, who lost his battle against Hodgkin’s lymphoma. “We are honored to have this opportunity to honor our fallen coworker and friend, while also working to further the LLS vision to create a world without blood cancers,” Market VP Cathy Gunther said in a release. “We know that funding the necessary research is what will get us to a place where nobody else loses a friend to blood cancer.”
...Southern California Public Radio news/talk KPCC Los Angeles (89.3) has let an undisclosed number of employees go. President/CEO Herb Scannell released a statement that read in part, “To get to where we need to go, we need to reallocate our spending in some areas... Today we are announcing a realignment that will allow some changes in our staffing going forward,” he wrote. “These decisions are never easy. We value the work of the colleagues whose positions are being eliminated.”
...The New York Post reports that Brandon Tierney, who co-hosts afternoons with Tiki Barber on CBS Sports Radio, will serve as the play-by-play voice for Discovery’s “Man vs. Bear,” which will have humans competing bears in various skills challenges.
