Aiming to grow its profile in the podcast community, iHeartMedia has recruited Chris Peterson from TuneIn as senior VP of podcasting for iHeartRadio. The company also recently hired Beth Murphy, formerly with Deezer and Stitcher, as senior VP of marketing for the streaming radio service. Both are newly created positions.
Peterson will oversee iHeart’s overall podcast strategy and work to expand its profile in the podcast community. He’s in charge of content partnerships, advising the product team on its podcast roadmap and working with sales to monetize podcast efforts.
Peterson spent two years at TuneIn as content partnerships manager, focusing on expanding the podcast footprint for TuneIn Premium and serving as project lead on its launch of 600 commercial-free music channels. No stranger to iHeart, he earlier worked as the director of operations for Glenn Beck’s The Blaze network and spent nearly five years at Premiere Networks, culminating as director of affiliate relations.
Murphy works with iHeartRadio chief product officer Chris Williams and chief technology officer Adam Denenberg to oversee the platform’s overall streaming music and live digital radio strategy.
Murphy was the chief marketing officer at Deezer from Aug. 2014-Feb. 2016 and the CMO at Stitcher, which was acquired by Deezer in Oct 2014. She managed international marketing and B2B efforts for both streaming services.
