Gordon Smith has traded a life in politics for helping guide broadcasters through the labyrinth that is Washington, DC. The two-term U.S. Senator from Oregon has led the National Association of Broadcasters since 2009 and he’s under contract to continue heading the trade group through March 31, 2023 – even while keeping tabs on his family’s 100-year old frozen foods business. In a city where old battles never really end, even as new challenges emerge, there are lots on Smith’s plate at the NAB.
