Dan Sileo was announced as the new afternoon host at iHeartMedia’s revamped “Fox Sports 910” KGME Phoenix as the station moved toward a live and local approach. Sileo and the revamped lineup that includes Jody Oehler anchoring morning drive, debuted on Tuesday, Sept. 3. One week later, Sileo has reportedly been cut from the lineup.

According to The Athletic, which published a story detailing reasons why the former NFL player turned sports talk radio host lost past jobs, the Arizona Coyotes, which iHeart lured away from Bonneville’s KMVP-FM, let station management know they were not happy with their new afternoon host. In the article, Sileo’s alleged homophobic and racist comments were highlighted and mentioned as reasons why he was dismissed from past radio gigs.

“When we became aware that Fox Sports 910 had hired Dan Sileo, we immediately reached out to the station’s management to express our deep concern regarding Mr. Sileo’s abhorrent comments,” the Coyotes told The Athletic. “Our promotion of inclusivity is deeply rooted into the fabric of who we are as an organization and we have no tolerance for racism, sexism, anti-Semitism or any other discriminatory behavior.”

Fox Sports Radio’s “The Odd Couple w/ Chris Broussard & Rob Parker” is now listed in afternoons on the KGME website.

The Athletic speculates that the Coyotes could have prevented team players and personnel from appearing on Sileo’s show, a scenario that played out with the San Diego Padres when Sileo was employed by Entercom sports “97.3 The Fan” KWFN. Sileo and Padres management eventually settled their differences, however, Sileo was bumped from mornings and eventually replaced by “Ben & Woods” (Ben Higgins and Steve Woods).
