The New York Post’s Andrew Marchand can’t get enough of Entercom sports “The Fan” WFAN-AM/FM (660/101.9) New York as he now speculates that CMB – Chris Carlin, Maggie Gray and Bart Scott – could be on their way out, with Marchand’s favorite nemesis Mike Francesa the reason why.
The tabloid reporter says Entercom could decide to no longer carry the three salaries and expand both Francesa’s drive-time program and Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts by an hour. CMB, originally hired as Francesa’s replacement, are currently on air from 1-3pm weekdays.
Francesa has not been shy about telling his audience that he has yet to sign a contract with Entercom since returning from his short-lived retirement a year ago. “If Francesa can get his plans straight and commit to FAN, CMB may be in trouble, despite their success,” Marchand writes.
The 10-3 daypart, shared by Benigno and Roberts and the CMB show, posted a 4.0 in the May PPMs, good for seventh place in the market.
He says Entercom “may prefer slicing three salaries off the books and moving to the more traditional three shows rather than four during the day.”
Marchand’s sources say Scott’s contract is up at the end of the year, while Entercom has an option on Carlin and Gray.
