Saga Communications has let go of its digital media team in Columbus, OH, including VP of Digital Media Matt Nystrom, who has been with the company for almost 12 years. The department’s Columbus-based office was shuttered, while a new digital media arm will be established in Saga’s headquarters in Grosse Pointe, MI, headed by CEO Ed Christian.

“We, for years, have been debating the idea of relocating our small interactive department from inside and in the back of our Columbus station to our offices in Grosse Pointe. It is time for consolidation and we have the space here,” Christian told Inside Radio. “It provides better communications and data flow.”

In September 2015, Saga promoted Nystrom from his previous role as Director of Interactive to VP of Digital Media, after seven years with the company. In that role, he oversaw the design, build, implementation and monetization of all of the company’s digital media products.

He joined the company at its Columbus cluster as lead content manager in 2008, where he designed station websites and worked on social media, email marketing, search engine optimization and the production and editing of audio and video content. In 2011, Saga promoted him to Director of Interactive, in charge of day-to-day operational aspects of the company’s digital department across 25 markets.
