Kelly Golden, morning talent at iHeartMedia “News Radio 94.3” WSSC Charleston, SC, will be honored and presented with the Key to the City of Charleston in a ceremony on June 1. Golden is being recognized for her “tireless efforts in bringing pertinent information to her community and providing resources to listeners in momentous times of need,” the announcement read.
During her career at WSSC, Golden has reported on historic events such as the tragic shooting at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, the “1,000-year” catastrophic floods and, most recently, Hurricane Matthew. She is also a strong supporter of a number of local non-profit organizations, including MUSC Children’s Hospital, Lowcountry Food Bank, Trident United Way, Fisher House Charleston, Ronald McDonald House and many more.
“Kelly Golden embodies what we all aspire to be when it comes to local community service and radio broadcasting as a whole,” iHeartMedia area president Alene Grevey said. “This much-deserved award is the result of her 20-plus years of striving to make Charleston and the Lowcountry a better place to live.”
