With an exact launch date still unknown, “The Mightier 1090” XEPRS Tijuana/San Diego will carry SportsGrid Radio Network’s “Ferrall Coast to Coast,” live from 1-3pm (PT) and “Ferrall on the Bench,” live from 7-9pm (PT). The shows will debut in August and join the previously announced SportsMap Radio “Into the Night” program hosted by Tony Bruno and Harry Mayes on the lineup. Scott Kaplan, who hosted “The Scott & BR Show” on predecessor “The Mighty 1090,” will also be a part of the relaunched station.
“Returning to XEPRS is an amazing opportunity for me to reconnect with my loyal Southern California fans, many of whom have become friends through the years,” Ferrall said in a release. “Sun, fun and sports are my passion and I jumped at the opportunity to work with the Southern California flagship station to create a dynamic experience for our fans. I’m honored to bring back my gnarly, irritating, annoying, old leather voice to 1090 AM for many years to come.”
Earlier this month, SportGrid Radio Network, whose partners includes The Elvis Duran Group, announced it will power the relaunch of the once legendary station with its cloud-based automation and live production tools. SportsGrid’s Radio production services will stream “The Mightier 1090” audio feed through a low-latency IP connection from the cloud to the station’s transmitter in Mexico, beaming the 50,000-watt signal to hundreds of thousands of listeners in Southern California.
